He filed a patent on what he knew was prior art. At worse it was a seriously unethical thing to do, however you seem to think that it's ok because he was part of a big company therefore he's not responsible.
Just because he "got away with it" due to the naivety of the patent office doesn't make it any less wrong what he has done.
The first step to changing the software patent system is to punish the writers of these troll patents. People will think twice before ruining their creditability by trying to get a patent on prior art.
he majority population feels he became PM through very immoral means, so I can see this SMS message making a lot of people not happy over here.
Maybe your country wife isn't happy because Thaksin isn't giving her bribes anymore but the rest of us honest people who don't do illegal things are quite happy thank you.
and if this was fox news we'd be modded down for enjoying festivus or whatever it's called. My point here is there everywhere you go is bias and complaining about it is pointless.
You do realise that slashdot is part of the open source developer network don't you? It's pretty clear they'd have a bias towards open source.
Is this suppose to be a "don't be evil" article or something? Thousands of people have become unemployed and you people are bitching about a Christmas bonus, pathetic.
You mean like how Google released the extensions and library to libjingle the Google talk voice component and after so many years there's still not a client that can do GTalk voice on Linux.
Before you mention the Tapioca failure you should realise that it's completely out of date by years.
My router runs dd-wrt, perhaps year of the open-wrt will come soon however I haven't made the switch.
You might think it doesn't matter however by installing a custom version of linux on my router I've been able to unlock many new and interesting features.
maybe because you're using the wrong one.. rpm? problems updating firefox? Sounds like you're using a shitty distro. Why not ubuntu? It's popular, got lots of hype and actually works.
By recycling it instead it gets transported two or three times as much as recycled paper, leaving a larger carbon footprint and the toxic chemicals used to wash off the ink need disposing.
I'm sure Google was one of the first to make search data Anonymous in March last year unlike how the author of the summary tried to make out it wasn't the case.
I don't see where Google is in a risky position given the facts above. Please point out if I am wrong however I am very certain this is the case.
Lets not forget this is the same Google which fought with the US gov to keep user search data secret. This is the same Yahoo which helped jail a Chinese blogger for many years when they could have just said the data was corrupted, didn't keep it, etc.
So Google might not be the shining example of "Do No Evil", however anything is better then Yahoo's censorship and helping arrest people over censorship laws.
My question is, why has it taken Yahoo so long to do this since Google has been doing it for almost a year.
I'd also like to point it that is doesn't matter how long Yahoo keeps data since they regularly hand it all over to the US gov what's the difference?

Too bad you're too lazy to even check for yourself on the website I gave you.
If you're too lazy to even check to facts I gave you then I think you shouldn't be giving me a lecture on asshattery.
Sorry to reply to myself, however..
Here's the patent author's website..

Please, someone burn this fuckers house down. What an asshole.
This is the dumbest most unprofessional patent I have ever seen.
Theres even a kids drawing in the patent.
It could be the last 12 digits of your credit card number. :D
What you are saying would make sense if developer time dropped, that's not what is happening here.
and that's why GNU HURD has been dying for years too, are you getting the picture?
"Bricked", you've turned the hardware into a brick.
An error where reinstalling the OS fixes it isn't "bricked" it is "broke" at best.
Maybe your country wife isn't happy because Thaksin isn't giving her bribes anymore but the rest of us honest people who don't do illegal things are quite happy thank you.
Indeed the GP should be modded "-1 head up ass". When the king dies expect a coup every couple of months.
I'd reserve that judgement for when they actually release it. Right now they've done squat.

Just an FYI, the election ended last month.

Are you paying £1000 a year for a TV license? No? Well fuck off.
You haven't done anything apart from prove the GP right.
If you explode every nuke on the planet it wouldn't keep the climate the same.
Not only this however it would only be a temporary effect not a permanent one.
Yes it uses more energy to recycle paper and harms the environment.
If we're talking about aluminium cans then you'd be correct because they take much less energy to recycle.
Yeah, if it's burned, if you bury it then it's trapped underground.
Recycled paper needs to be transported more times, two to three trips and the toxic chemicals used to wash off the ink need disposing too.
It's a complete waste of time and leaves a bigger carbon footprint.
That should read "gets transported two or three times more then non-recycled paper".
By recycling it instead it gets transported two or three times as much as recycled paper, leaving a larger carbon footprint and the toxic chemicals used to wash off the ink need disposing.
Just the other day I was modded troll for saying Microsoft doesn't keep to standards in the new IE and invent their own standards.
Looks like I win Micro-mods. Pathetic that you need to mod down the truth.
