I've been using Linux as my primary desktop for about 5 years now. I'm sick of limiting my gaming options to those that will run on WINE and I'm sick of tweaking WINE to get those games working properly.
I'm planning on building a Win7 system for gaming. And I kinda hate myself because of it.

There will be spoilers in the bottom half of this review... beware!
The Matrix Reloaded was a HUGE disappointment to me. If not for the last 1/5 of the movie, I would call it a complete POS! I really wanted to like this movie as much as I did the first.
The plot of the movie had too much unnecessary garbage piled up on top of it. In my opinion the action scenes were too long, so long that I was wishing for them to end. I'm not crazy about action scenes that do not really further the plot; especially if they hold up the plot progession. The philosophical rants were exceeding long and at times pointless; it seems like the dialog was intentionally complex to make it seem more "deep". Very simple concepts drawn out and repeated over and over again.
====Spoilers be here=====
some more detailed rambling:
- Agent Smith(s) is useless. His character has no bearing on the plot; the Revolutions trailer at the end suggests he may have more relevence in the next one. In Reloaded, we find out he has a thing for Neo due to their encounter in the first one, so he's acting out against Neo as a rogue agent. How ironic: machines wanting revenge . Really I could care less because it is no significance to the plot of this movie. It would have worked better as an Animatrix short.
- The French man, or program, or construct (straight out of "Neuromancer") was just as useless. OK he's guarding the KeyMaker (I prefer calling him the KeyMaster); he took up way too much screen time and added very little to the movie. WoW, a program who likes to give hot chi><0rs orgasms from across the room; cute... I guess. Not only is Reloaded the deeply-philosophical thrill ride summer movie event... its also gut-wrenchingly funny.
- The Kiss... part of what made the original Matrix cool was the contrast of logical unfeeling machines to emotive humans. We're pretty sure that by the end of the trilogy, "heart" will be the x-factor that helps the humans free themselves; thats cool, its one of the primary themes of the Matrix. But I think they stretched that theme out a bit too much with "the Kiss". The Frenchman's (see above) hoochie gets a bit irritated that he received a BJ from the broad he helped climax from across the room. So she decides to help Morpheus and his crew in their quest to find the KeyMaster ("I am the GateKeeper are you the KeyMaster"). However, in order to receive her help, she requests that Neo gives her a kiss... not just any kiss, but one intended for his true love, Trinity. Of course he so unwilling obliges, Trinity gets pissed, blah, blah, blah, ad naseum. In Soviet Russia, machines love you... again, how ironic.
- You may be wondering to yourself "um, what am I watching" when you see the inhabitants of Zion "ghost dancing" to techno. That scene is a bit too long, but at least you get to see boobies.
- Its not that much of a cliff hanger.
-"Final Flight of the Osiris" was better than Reloaded.
=============== My recomendation: don't pay for it (sneak into it or borrow the DVD).
I talked to another MS support tech today and he stated that SQL Server 7.0 suffers from the vulnerability but is not affected by the worm. This is because version 7.0 does not use port 1434 but instead uses 1433.
If their info is correct, all it would take is a simple flip of a bit or two and this worm would instead affect 7.0 systems.
Microsoft incorrectly states in bulletin MS02-061 that SQL Server 7.0 and MSDE 1.0 are also affected by the worm.
While troubleshooting an issue related to the patch w/ MS phone support, the technician told me that 7.0 is not affected and the bulletin was incorrect.
It is entirely possible he was misinformed though.
I agree, the DW comic is really good... it has great art and decent plot potential. I'm not sure if it is based on the original comic or cartoon or both.
Nope, you're thinking of the Transformers the Movie.
He's talking about an episode, "Webworld", where Galvatron is sent to by his second in command (Cyclonous) to be reformed... Galvatron suffered from insanity after the plasma bath he took at the end of TF:TM when he was thrown from Unicron by Rodimus Prime.
So it begins... the market flooding of transformers, gijoe, he-man, voltron, thundercats merchandise and the exploitation of gen x nostalgia. I guess we're in line to fill the void the aging baby boomers will leave as they die off.
How long until I can order my Optimus Prime commemorative plate set?
People who truly enjoy and appreciate music don't download mp3's
You are wrong here. I believe I truly appreciate music and the artists that create it. I also download mp3's to sample new music, if I like it, I'll buy it. Last year I discovered (and purchased) more music than I ever did in the past because of napster.
It sounds like you are one of which you spoke of who"collected huge numbers of CD's, LP's, and even a few cassettes" and feel some kind of eliteness because of it. Why are you so hot and bothered over the subject, are you an artist who is getting screwed by napster or something? Or are you just pissed because your expensive music collection is not so special anymore?
CS = UNDERSTANDING of computer technology from the ground up, including old antiquated tech. Lots of programming and math involved.
CIS = APPLICATION of computers in a business environment. Emphasis on current tech and specific applications. May also include a foudation of business classes (management, accounting, econ, and even marketing)
I have a Bachelor's in CIS, but started off in CS. The reason I switched was CIS had a better program in my college (Rhode Island College). Sometimes I wish I had gone into CS, other times I don't. If you wish to code I recommend CS.
I graduated 2 years ago, and my current position is Network Support Specialist.
I've seen an official Navy report that was posted in August. It had a listing of major cities and expected problems within them. New York city was listed as being "Most Probable" for problems with water and sewage... a recipe for chaos.
That report saw very little media coverage. Something doesn't seem right, its just too quiet being less than 2 months away from y2k.

I replied to the wrong parent! sorry.

"Web World", great episode!
I especially like the fact that he ends up completely destroying the planet on his own... merely for revenge.

You're probably thinking of Trailbreaker.
He is referring to Macross+ The Movie which was a summary of the four part series.
guess I'll take the bait...

Not true, I'm using @home and have to lease my cable modem ($15/month). I think it depends on your local provider.
Why does Slashdot seem so anti-SCO. Not that I am "for" SCO, but there always seems to be a negative bias towards them.
One thing to note, the Linksys will lose its configuration if it ever loses power! Not so good.
It will completely ruin the Star Wars Universe for you... Trust me, its really not worth it.
