    My question is... Will it support wavelet compression, i.e. an image will look different based on how much of the file you've download, or and/or how much you need to render. FYI. This is NOT the same as Progressive-encoding (.gif)

    You dont need radioactive decay to cause a truly random number. Just increase the dimension. hear me out:

    anyone remember QBASIC programs that were started with the RANDOMIZE TIMER statement. This means that the RNGenerator was based on the # of seconds past midnight, adding the element of timing to the equation.

    No cracker/hacker would EVER want to get into the element of time when trying to crack a random code.

    Maybe a good, secure compromise would be a radioactive decay that catalyzed a Time based RNGenerator.

    because it needed to check the servers to see how many alpha users had signed up. I certianly hope blizzard doesn't get used to this practice!

    You can compare the corporate onslaught of entire computer systems to that of any other industry.

    Think about it:: 99% of the people driving cars have no idea what's going on inside.

    Companies can develop hardware that's proprietary, totally abusing the actual manufacturer. If a product line fails, then the producer recieves the hit.

    Corporations are allowed to totally modify the entire process of building the entire machine, with no ethic regard to the end user or manufacturer.

    Skins look nice, but when they are non-proprietary (i.e. sonique) they can get damn annoying.

    WinAmp skins are nice because you always know where things are... The only problem is it's too damn small, the transparency sucks, and the file format is WAY too hard to do from scratch.

    My socket7 motherboard had merely a heat sink, but it didn't have screws. So I got a CPU fan and put it on sideways. This allows the center of the chip (the place where it gets hottest) to be cooled.

    Then, one of the arms of the fan came off so I used oscillating fan from ma kitchen... =)

    If guns were legalized, why would there be more respect for them? Guns kill people. A person will buy a gun, and kill someone with it. That's not respect, it's misuse.

    Why let "moral" ethics bring down science?

    No matter how immoral, if theres science to be done, eventually it will be studied. The only problem is when scientists push just for funding and are blind to their research's effect of society.

    Think about it, humans brains grow from experiencing instances, reacting to these, and formulating.

    Why would it be wrong to apply the same practice to a machine?

    In Quake, there are two main solo deathmatch mods:
    reaperbot and frogbot

    AFAIK frogbot uses a pre defined set of nodes and paths that reaper generates as it learns.

    The result? Thousands of quakers play the frogbot prebuilt levels and limit their overall skills.

    A reaperbot experience is one of true learning. By playing two or less bots, you are able to get to know the bots individually. Reaper bot uses an advanced fuzzy logic technique that allows for great overall play.

    I would like to hear peoples opinions of these AI bots and the end result.
