  1. Where's the hate? on Apple Updates iMac, iLife, .Mac · · Score: 0

Where is the mention of Open Standards (ODF and OOXML) or Open Source Software. Oh wait, this is an anti-M$ site... 5 Years from now, everyone will be complaining how monopolistic and evil Apple is :)

  2. Automagically - PFM - Apple on Why Linux Has Failed on the Desktop · · Score: 0

If it doesn't work out of the box, without custom configuration, my Mom can't use it. Therefore, she won't buy it... Apple OSX isn't successfull because businesses don't use it... So, the moral of the story is - combine OSX and MS Office = gangbusters!

  3. WTF? on Computer Graphics With Java · · Score: 0

Is this a commercial for the book? How many graphics libraries use web services? Serializing and deserializing a SOAP message is not fast enough! Java and C# are too slow for anything but a super computer (insert PS3 here) to render high level graphics at 60fps. Who approved this article?

  4. Homebrew won't cut it on Details on Nintendo's Original Downloadable Content · · Score: 0

The typical XBLA game costs greater than $250,000.00 to get through testing and onto the channel. The single nerd working on a homebrew game will never achieve the quality needed to get Nintendo to officially feature their game added to the download area...

  5. Re:Wow! on Microsoft To Change Desktop Search After Google Complaint · · Score: 0

Uhhhh Apple does the exact same thing that Microsoft and Google do. However, they are unwilling to cave to the public outcry. All of Apples systems are so proprietary and closed that it is all but impossible to develop for them. Nintendo is the exact same way...

  6. Re:Not a great new app! on Corporate IT Hanging Up on Apple's iPhone · · Score: 0

  7. Not hot-swappable on How Big Will the iPhone Become? · · Score: 0

Until the iPhone has a swappable carrier model, it will never be as huge as the iPod. Why can't the phone network access be abstracted to the point that a phone just has a different .dll for each network? Someone create a Cell Phone Software Factory!

  8. Where in the Bible does it mention other planets? on 28 New Planets Found Outside Solar System · · Score: 0

Obviously, this is a left wing conspiracy to make us believe aliens created life on Earth! Everyone knows Jesus was born to kill all of the dinosaurs that were eating God's chosen creations. When He was old enough, He started the NRA and breathed life into Charlton Heston. Together, they used every assault rifle imaginable to hunt down the dinosaurs and vegetarians.

  9. Microsoft on Why are Websites Still Forcing People to Use IE? · · Score: 0

I am a Microsoft developer. I have worked at 3 different fortune 500 companies building web applications. Even though IE was the only browser installed, by default, on our corporate pcs, we still created w3c standard html. Microsoft's development tools even helped validate our source. In addition, their tools check markup for accessibility and provide localization/globalization support. If some manager or web master out there says only develop to IE, then he better have a really good reason (ie its an intranet site). Nowadays, Microsoft plays well with others... take advantage of the tools available to you and everyone will be happy! Mozilla proselytizers need to stop drinking the koolaid...

  10. laughable on FAA May Ditch Vista For Linux · · Score: 0

The FAA can't even successfully roll out an update to their air traffic control systems... But they're going to successfully update multiple applications to run on Linux and Google?

  11. Office won't be going anywhere... on Novell Releases OO–OOXML Translator · · Score: 0

Microsoft will simply add a ODF exporter as well... It's still the best office productivity software out there. The feature set and development capabilities cannot be ignored.

  12. Compelling on ODF Threat to Microsoft in US Governments Grows · · Score: 0, Flamebait

There are so many nice features in Office that aren't available in OpenOffice. Microsoft could easily switch their product to use a different file format, or even just add the different format as an option. Open source is a nice idea, but so is socialism. The revenue model for most open source software, is to give the software away and provide support at a premium price, or place ads in the software. Ad revenue is already spread too thin... Who thinks a government agency can create software that will be reusable, upgradeable and secure?
