Bad analogy. Horsepower is a function of torque and RPM. You almost always get more HP with more RPM for a given displacement size (of which torque is a function of). This is why Formula 1 cars turn 23,000rpm. When your are limited to a fixed displacement, other than forced induction, you reach a point where the only way to make more power is to spin it faster because you can't get any more power (efficiency) by doing more each rev(cycle). When we get to the point where no CPU cycles are wasted, that is, they are 100% efficient and no cycles are wasted, then the only way to make them faster will be to clock them higher. We are not there yet, though.
That article says most of the Corporations were small. Does it account for S corporations which don't pay income tax. Linky. Many people I know who own their own business have gone this route. Federal income taxes are still paid, just not by the corporation.
Here are a few major sites. Also Microsoft makes it pretty easy to break into web development for the first time with Visual Web 2008 and all the resources (templates, starter kits, custom controls, forums, how-to's, training docs and videos) available on the asp.net website.
I would agree with you if MS made it difficult to install another browser, but that isn't the case. 99% of people would consider their new PC broken if it didn't come with a browser and there is no logical choice for Microsoft other than to include their browser. Especially since nowadays a web browser is arguably an integral part of an operating system anyway.
It's not just Walmart. At one point (I'm not sure if they still do) Staples offered a $99 warrranty on any laptop they sold and it took affect the day you bought it, unlike Circuit City's which doesn't come into play until after the manufacturers expires. The vast majority of Circuit Citys profits were from these over priced warranties and once everyone started selling them cheaper they needed to either adapt or die. Which one do you think they chose?
Theur main mistake was tying their business model to selling consumer electronics warrantys and then not adapting when Walmart undercut the price of those warantys by 300%.
Bullshit. Either your network was owned before you turned on auto updates or your leaving out the part about how it is set to run at 3am and you turn off your PC every night.
Yeah, but at least automatic updates are enabled my default. How many home users have a group policy that disables automatic updates and an IT department that rolls out there own updates months after they are released. My home machines update Windows, Office, and Avast while I sleep. I never have to touch it.
Great, what OS manufacturer puts out updates less often than once a month? There is a reason that car analogies have the reputation they do around here, they make you look like an idiot.
In other words, it's like comparing a Ferrari to a Prius.
Yes. How do you not get that? People want all of their hardware to work.

(f)Yes
They changed something with the click wheel recently. My 30GB iPod Video had an awesome clickwheel, my 80GB iPod classic sucks.

Only if it has a hard drive.
I don't think "solid state" means what you think it means.
From an ATM. You can buy a Ferrari in your debit card assuming you have enough in your account.
Won't the desalination from the ice caps melting make this a wash?

Well, since this is slashdot I was assuming that no one uses Vista. Also I wouldn't be surprised if breaking iexplore.exe breaks Windows Update.
Wow, Windows ships with utorrent now?

How do you get updates, download them by hand with firefox?

Is a different band.

Yeah, cause the 10minute phone call to Microsoft is such a hassle.
I get 18-19Mbps on Cox Cables midle tier in Phoenix.

Hey, you got your TVs in my Internets.
So the only computers that can get owned are the ones used by the only people that can own your entire network. Sweet.
Your the first person I have seen use "fuck" and "heck" in the same sentance.
