Corruption? The board of directors of Nokia knew exactly what they were getting when they hired Elop away from Microsoft. They wanted the company to go in a different direction than the path of not-so-slow death meandering out into the snow that they'd been on for the last 6-7 years. Elop isn't responsible for the layoffs as much as he's the person with the unenviable job of taking the blame for them. The company was in trouble years ago, before Elop was there. He didn't inherit a healthy company that was an auto-pilotting cash machine. He inherited a broke down giant that had been spending far too much money developing custom software that was uneccessary and far too slow to market. The company was done before he got there. Now at least they have a chance.

I was with you, until Elop announced that the flagship 920 was only going to be available on AT&T. He's playing the game like he has an iPhone on his hands that everyone will be clamoring for. That is incorrect. As fond as I am of the 920, it's isn't enough to get me to switch to AT&T.

I'd like to see Nokia succeed, but I think they need to play the game that they've entered, which is the put-your-best-foot-forward-and-scramble-for-everything-you-can-get game instead of the we're-doing-you-a-favor-by-allowing-you-to-buy-our-device game.

I think you're wrong. I think people are going to buy the tablet and be satisfied with the software bumdled with it and what they can download off of the Windows Store. I think anyone concerned with legacy application support is going to know the difference between Windows RT and Windows 8. The lack of a DVD drive is going dissuade most people from even trying to load their legacy software. For the few people that do run into this issue, they can always bring their tablet back and upgrade to the Windows 8 version.

    Because

    a) You are proposing to force your beliefs on others through the law

Yes. All the laws based on "Thou shalt not kill" should be stricken from the law.

    b) Your point of view appears to be based on your emotional reaction to your son and other unknown biases, rather than any kind of rational or scientific argument about the nature of the foetus.

Science shows that a foetus is not part of the mother's body. Genetically, it's a different person. This fact seems lost on those advocating easy access to abortion. In fact, a life other than the mother's is being ended, and the only justification is that the child is too young to be capable of realizing it, a situation that extends well past birth.

    c) You are clearly quite emotional about this issue, judging by the language you use. Again, not a rational or considered argument.

Simply displaying emotion is not grounds to dismiss an argument. The emotion itself may not be as compelling an argument, but the presence of emotion does not invalidate the argument automatically. If that were the case, then most of what Dawkins and Hitchens ever said on the subject would be invalidated.
