An arcade game that came out when I was about 16. I remember a couple of years after that running into Space Invaders blotter acid. Definitely not for the weak at heart.

I just wasted half an hour looking for the punch line. Not really, in fact there were some good comments. Pretty hard to understand what exactly the Egyptians are trying to do here.

I can't really see where this matters. Two groups of lying thieves, take your pick. It's kind of like George Carlin says, "It's their club, and you ain't in it. It's the same club they beat you over the head with."

Corporate sponsored legislation is becoming the way of the world, no? Makes you stop worrying about who's behind the politicians and worry about who's behind the corporations. Maybe those guys ranting about the Illuminati and the Bilderbergers were right...

I recently read where the advent of a $200 pc running Ubuntu or some other distro may soon overtake Apple's #2 spot. Most people only want simple interactive capabilities out of their computer anyway - surf the 'net, exchange email, and maybe watch some video. And I don't know about anyone else, but the price tag has always put me off of looking any further at a Mac. Problem is, most folks have never even heard of Linux as a viable alternative.

  6. Re:I tried the live cd on Fedora 8 Released · · Score: 1

    1. Fedora offers a solution (a pretty poor one) through use of alternate repositories like Livna and ATRpms. Use of these repositories can bork your whole system, though. I used to use Dag Wieers' repositories, but although Dag takes care to make sure his packages are compatible with Fedora Livna and ATRpms do not. 2. Maybe I'm at fault, since i purchased the Nvidia card with my own money. Why should I expect it to work with an open source system? Oh, wait a minute, it does work (fantastically well) with Debian. Full 3-D acceleration with games, and my videos are smooth and not jerky. I guess I'm at fault for thinking a Red Hat clone was meant for my kind of use.

  7. I tried the live cd on Fedora 8 Released · · Score: 1

Attractive, but it seems to think anyone using it to install needs their hand held every inch of the way. I loved Fedora Core 2, 3, and 4, but they pretty much chased me away by 5 through their refusal to accept those of us who use Nvidia products and those who want to play the DVDs we purchase. There are many other distros out there a lot friendlier to install and use. Fedora is like a testing ground for Red Hat, so they really don't care about folks like me.

Why don't you go enlist today? http://operationyellowelephant.blogspot.com/2005/07/operation-yellow-elephant-overview.html probably has all the info needed on a guy (or whatever) like you.

Congress was elected with as clear a mandate as I have ever seen in 2006: end the Iraq war. All it would have taken would have been a simple majority against the funding bill in the House, or 40 senators to support a filibuster in the Senate. Instead we get a bunch of hand-wringing and poor excuses (lies) about supporting the troops. "Support the troops; keep them in the middle of a civil war with no chance of victory and don't give them even the basics they need." We need a new government here in the US, one that puts the people of this nation first, second, and third.

No doubt. I just reformatted my Windoze box ( I mainly use Debian on an older computer i put together in my younger days) and found the only good use for IE once again: connecting to mozilla.org (now known as mozilla.com) to download the latest Firefox. Of course, I only turn the Windoze box on every week or so to update the anti-virus stuff and any patches Micro$oft may have deemed me worthy of receiving.

It should be obvious to anyone paying attention that our government here in the US does not represent US citizens, but large corporations and foreign nationals who can donate large campaign contributions (and other, more subtle forms of graft).
