I don't understand people. I use a 16,000 line/etc/hosts file to keep from seeing crap like that. Faster browsing, less spyware/adware/crapware, and I see what I want.
Oh, wait a minute, that's not open source I'm talking about, is it? No, that's the famous 'proprietary' software everyone gets for free. No, that open source stuff isn't even good enough to run the latest worm or virus like certain other OSes I could mention. Or play games for kiddies. Well, Wine will let you play Return To Castle Wolfenstein, but there's native ports out there for most all of the Quake series. Personally, I like FuhQuake or EQuake or whatever you call it. It takes a little juggling to get the sound working, but I can't get enough of it. Makes me feel like a young punk again, I guess. Quake came out back in the early days of pcs.
I registered there years ago, but it's been years since I've logged in. First off, the stories are mostly knock-off crap for the 'unwashed masses', secondly how do you know their columnists aren't just poorly-paid liars like that clown Jason Blair? You can read better elsewhere, and if they do publish something factual you'd want to verify it anyway.

Now I for sure won't. JMHO, but I believe AMD to be true innovators anyway. I bought a laptop that has an AMD-X2 dual core processor (with the Nvidia chipset and video card) that absolutely smokes. People who see it are totally impressed with the display and video capabilities. Probably because they're used to the crap Intel passes off as their best effort.
The US and their cohorts continually hype Iran's reactor being built by the Russians as a "secret nuclear weapons program", even though the IAEA has reported no nuclear fuel being diverted towards weapon production. In fact the uranium in Iran is only being enriched to the level needed for a power station, not the 95% or so needed for a weapon. It strikes of buffoonery to keep reading this hype from the usual suspects, but it seems to be the only song they know.
Why not a bailout for M$? All these fat cats need a bailout. Pretty soon that's going to be the model for the US; sue and/or get a bailout. It's times like these I'm glad there's a second amendment.
Does anyone take Micro$oft press releases seriously? I know they have the 'Wow' and all that, but I thought most of the world was waking up to what a seriously flawed product Microsoft has spewed these many years. Maybe 'Windows 7' will wise them up.
AOL spam-free? Who are you trying to kid? My first email account was on AOL years ago, and had messages waiting for me the first time I opened it. Plus around 20+ arriving every day after that. AOL sucked back then, and it probably still does today.
Most of Indiana doesn't observe daylight savings time. I lived there working third shift, and I would go out at 3:00 or so for a smoke and see the sunrise getting ready to happen. Sure, Gary is on Central time and that little city near Cincinnati observes DST, but most of the state pays no mind to the rest of the fools who think they can gain something by springing forward and falling back.
That may well be, but the only time i notice any real congestion is around the time all the local kids get out of school and turn their computers on. I get download rates as high as 900k and upload at over 100k (unless I'm running KTorrent).

I don't usually pay any attention whatsoever to these Windows Security updates except for comedic value. I use Debian behind two firewalls so it really doesn't affect me.
I'd be willing to bet that Adobe Final Cut was purchased with US taxpayer money. The CIA don't even worry about open source or price when they're underwritten by the biggest bunch of suckers the world has ever known.

I have two computers, one dual-booting Debian and Fedora 8, and one dual-booting XP and Ubuntu. I boot XP up once a week to update the anti-virus software, but that's about all I use it for. With a fast Nvidia card, I can have all the accelerated 3-d I want if I use Nvidia's driver (or a various distro's version of such). Since I paid for the video card, I feel I'm totally entitled to use Nvidia's driver. And in case anyone doesn't know, Alberto Milone's Envy ( http://albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html ) makes installing the driver trivially easy in Debian or Ubuntu.
Now I'm probably giving away my age here, but I can play id games (like Quake or Doom 3 or Return To Castle Wolfenstein) with all the 3-D glory of any DirectX Windows games. If I'm downloading something, I can play for a few while I wait. Or watch quality video. Or even good Flash video, with the newest flash plug-in. Linux has come a very long ways recently, and it only looks to get better. And with Micro$oft releasing crap like Vista, more support for Linux is going to mean even more improvement.
