  1. Religion on Remembering 2001 in 2001 · · Score: 1

Well for a large part of the world population which follow the Christian religion, 33 is an important number because it is the age at which Christ died.
Well, there's some mysticism involved in the black monolith, don't you all agree?
Just my two cents on yet another interpratation on the movie.

I vote for email. It's a common use word and should be easy to type...

Just want to know your opinion:
how will all this cloning interfere with evolution (according to Darwin's theory)? Shall we claim cloning is the next step in evolution so we could take back extincted species, or shall we be worried for the fact we are doing some sort of sabotage to nature's law?
    Cheers!

Anyway, this is a damn cool tool, and it run Linux too!

  6. Please, post it without flames... on Tech Stocks Tumble · · Score: 1

First of all, forgive my english, since It's not my mother tongue.

Certainly our brave CmdrTaco is right when he's saying that "The Market" is not a news for nerds! But then why publishing such an headline? I mean, the market went down, and I'm kind of interested in the market myself. But I've never expected such a story on Slashdot. And I believe that most of the Slashdotters didn't expect that either...

What I do not understand here is the anger of CmdrTaco. He seems to answer in a childish way to the childish insulting e-mails. Got to the same level!

So here's my bit: CmdrTaco thinks the news deserves Slashdot? Then post it without anger.
If slashdot is not the right place, then do not post it!
Many readers are asking (politely) such a topic? Well, Let's post it without flames... Otherwise it's better to ignore them...

  10. What kind of network speed do you need? on IBM Creates New Fastest Beowulf Cluster · · Score: 1

Well, this is not a very tech article. It doesn't say how fast is the high speed network.

Anyway, I'm managing a 60 alpha XP1000 cluster connected with a 100Mbit network and I'm using a Cisco Catalyst. If you check their page, you'll see that the Catalyst 8500 can have 128 port switch for 10/100 Mbit. While only 64 for Gigabit connections.

Indeed you should see how much your parallel jobs are communicating with each other and how much traffic they have to support. Sure you don't want to spend a fortune in gigabit connections if you're sending out very few packets.
I'm pretty confident that a 100Mb will do for most of you out there!
