How on earth does the sound and network subsystem overlap?

Oh Slashdot, your memes are teh win.

  3. Re:Courting Linux Users on Attempts to Count Linux Users Remain Pointless · · Score: 1

I was pretty sure it was about a psychological study about how most /.ers (or at least most Linux users) can't stay in a relationship long enough to get married because they prefer the cold moistness of their parents basements. Which is of course rediculous...

I can leave any time I want.

  5. Guh!? on RIAA Forces YouTube to Remove Free Guitar Lessons · · Score: 2, Interesting

Maybe this has been mentioned already, but I feel like speaking up.

How about asking the fscking artist if it constitutes copyright infringement? If they say yes, will they still pull ALL of his vids because of a misstep like this? God damn the RIAA.

Come on, that's hardly a cross platform solution.
Don't worry, I'm sure they'll "somehow" find a way to port it before it is released.

Halo is not a revolutionary game by any stretch of the imagination. One could have had the same result trivially by starting with any of the common first person shooter engines, and working from there. so basically what your saying is they took your every day boring fps, and worked on it and improved it? what the hell? IMHO, the difference with Halo was it was the first really really fun fps for "that gen".

  11. One Question... on 1-800-Google Launches · · Score: 2, Interesting

Why? Doesn't Google do enough? Is anybody but me reminded of the dot-com boom? Big companies doing too much at once, gaining money/people at an alarming rate, and then inevitably crashing and burning. With every "BETA" they release I get more and more afraid one day I'll go to open my GMail and get a "Google has gone into Chapter 11" message or some such.

  12. REALLY!? on Ubuntu Feisty Fawn - Desktop Linux Matured · · Score: 2, Funny

It seems that Linux on the desktop is getting there, with Ubuntu. Eugenia of OSNews fame wrote a glorifying preview about Ubuntu's next version

Well if Eugenia said it, it must be true!
