Go ahead plant some more 'astroturf'... it just withers and dies here.
A PC can boot from a CD with a bios setting. Usually the floppy or CD can be given priority.
A Linux (and FreeBSD etc) PC can boot from almost anything imaginable. Read some HOWTOs and a few Docs. You can boot of a:floppy,CD,tape,HD(of course),a network or the sound of Alan Cox muttering nearby;).
There are several companies that are NOW bringing multiplayer games to market. Tribes, Unreal Tournement,Half-Life and KingPin are just starting to really push the multiplayer market.
All of these companys are porting a Linux server. I and others have been quite vocal in refusing to run servers for which there is no Linux client.
KingPin is the first to produce a client.
Lets show the industry that a Linux client is what gets their games served up not a Linux server port.
Hell we need these tools to test the throughput of our various networks and for other arcane purposes too complex for the pointy-headed to suss, heh.
Lets get a bunch of KingPin servers up and support Ridah(Lead Programmer at Xatrix) and show em' it's worth porting us a client.
Kinda reminds me of the strip. Sometimes you get beat off the line but you know you have the power. I've been in places when I was two car lengths behind at 1/8 mile but I still had a big smile on my face 'cause I knew I was gonna' catch him and blow by. I think that's where we are now. NT has come off the line and is maxed. We came off a little wonkey and are just now getting traction.
I guess I'm just boasting but why pay their huge price. My new toy is nearly built and it should eat the 550xl for way less.
Dual 666 mhz P III (already there:) Alpha coolers - direct outside air to coolers ducted from air cleaner HSDRAM 4.5 ns at 133mhz (maybe 140 we'll see) Scsi U2wide (the 500xl has fast wide) 9 gig I think the G400 for a card (nice to have JC working on this;).
I built my last machine three years ago, a PPro at 233 (a 180 really). I properly cooled it and she's still up, (she's been down, for hardware, kernels and upgrades only).
Why pay for the name, hell might as well run.. ... I won't mention that name here.

My point is build yer own, ain't that what we suposed to be doing:o).
War Stuff Uncle Target was used by artillery spotters in www2 to identify a target that should be targetted by all guns that could range on it. The German breakout of the Falaise Pocket was one of a few called in www2. Enough history. I have www.intra.ru firmly in my sights... how bout you?
The reason that all us slak users use slak is 'cause it is easy and simple to use.
Our superiority is just a sham, hell I can't install Red Hat, rpms and debs just confuse the hell out of me. I guess I screw up so much I need something I can fix.
Oh yeah as someone up there said "kernels are a snap"
Red Hat really is a buggy thing, but not just bugs. If you install as a server setup RH goes and installs pop2 as default.
What could be dumber, I have had two people attacked through this and of course when I find out we disable pop2. As a slackware user I never dreamed anyone could be so dumb, so it took the saint to find this.
The real problem for me is that with all the RH hype all the pointy heads want RH. It's a drag to install and a drag to administer.
We should be quite firm here, it will, I'm sure make a difference when games are planned. If it is known the community generally frowns on serving games for which there is no client, we will see more clients.
As Linux becomes more mainstream and games become more and more networked, there will be a real incentive to use Linux as the server of choice. This of course because LINUX ROCKS (as well as a few other highly technical and abstruse bits of High Grade code which produce "Ass Kicking" performance).
The new kernel..... a thing of wonder and magic (how did he do that SGI deal so fast). Truly our God lives !
I think I hear your mother calling ...... (It should be bedtime by now).

So you must be the Tom himself then. Yer Porsch
holdin up OK?

Me too. I've watched him for two years turn from a not bad overclock site to leader of the Arrogant Assholes.
I wouldn't trust anything he says about AMD either, you must remember he hates Intel with a passion and does ads for AMD.

I'm pretty sure the guestbook is to blame.
They cycle it every 5 I think. It seems to have
a DOS effect.

Well I must be bored to rise to this, oh well.

As I roll through the comments it is so obvious which are "astroturf" because the structure of the comment is quite distinct.
I'm sure a talented person could make a filter for this :o).

I had to put it on, "get rid of that pistol".
Simple enough ?
