just ignore security. and ignore stupid users. :) make it all go away pretty please ? nah well there is no way to keep everything 100% up all the time and if you are at the five nines in uptime it should be fine. people tend to panic and go OMG THE INTERNET IS GONE FOR 5 MINUTES!!!.. cry more. if you have documents that are secret and aren't supposed to leak out, put it on a separate network. for other stuff there is backup, redundant servers. your system is hackable, it's a fact, will anyone do it ? that's the question and if they do. find out who/how report them, reload backup & fix security. the biggest reason hackers hack systems these days seems to be able to send out spam mail for xx minutes and then they leave.

that's a good one :) tried it as well :) did a "prank" on a script kiddy that loved to nuke Win98 machines (and he was all I have win2k I can't be haxxored) got access to his $admin share, edited some files so that next time he rebooted his PC it started up with progman.exe shell instead of explorer.exe shell. (and ofc I had made some folders on his desktop so he knew someone was messing with him and he tried to reboot to get rid of me :), (deleted his scripts as well)) he ended up reinstalling his PC.

well I work at an ISP atm (tho a small one and in a country most of you don't know exists). there is a lot of hardware out there that shapes traffic. currently we're using Allot Netinforcers. They are funny in the way that they can input rules like 1. max 20 P2P session per IP. 2. high priority download from speedtesters around the world. (so the customer always thinks he has uber speed) 3. have different rules for ip ranges. (buisnesses that pay more get more) 4. down throttle P2P upload. (what ISP really has any wishes that other people can download "mostly illegal stuff" from their net) 5. high prio on HTTP Streaming. and it all works in real time.
