Really? So you've never had a coughing fit. I get them whenever some dust or whatever gets stuck in the back of my throat. It can sometimes take a few minutes to clear it out. So I see nothing surprising about someone who is giving speeches and talking all day long finding themselves coughing on occasion. Now if she were to appear completely out of breath or otherwise severely impacted by the coughing then maybe you might have a point. However you can watch videos and see she keeps the speech going even while trying to clear her throat.

If someone lost 8000 DVDs they did something wrong. Either buying really cheap media or storing it improperly. I have DVDs that I burned from ten years ago that still work fine. I recently moved a few hundred DVDs over to BluRay for the reduced storage space and only had a few files that I had issues recovering. The rest came across with no problem and that was with a mix of Verbatim (good quality) and Sony (not quite so good quality) media.

All too true. If the record company really wanted the person responsible they would be going to Dropfile and try to get the address of the person who uploaded. That very well could be an employee. The person who posted the link to Reddit could have just read about the song elsewhere and thought it would be great to share the link and have no connection to the company at all.

It's an easy thing to say but how do you accomplish that. With large metropolitan police forces it is possible to set up an extensive training program that all officers have to go through that helps to teach officers to de-escalate situations and avoid these shootings that happen without good reason. That doesn't do a thing to address the small local police forces that exist in many communities across the country that may have no training program at all.

In addition there's the question of retraining all of the people that were displaced by the robots since it seems few companies are willing to pay for training new employees.

That doesn't happen now. Youtube changed the policy so that when a complaint is lodged the money goes into a separate bucket and sits there until the complaint is resolved. Once resolved the money goes to whomever wins the complaint so there is no lost revenue.

The only time this doesn't apply is when more than two people/companies are involved. As Jim Sterling found out if you have multiple companies making copyright complaints then no one gets any money as Youtube bows out of the advertising. Guess they don't want to get involved in lawsuits between multiple corporations so they decided if multiple people make a complaint against a video then no one gets any money (not even Youtube.)

The problem with slow changing of channels on Comcast with X1 is due to the one changing a channel is tied in to their head end servers. They end up having to communicate with the head end to get the updated info on the new channel and that slows things down instead of just immediately tuning in to the new channel the way it used to be. So you get all the info on what show is airing when you change channels (whether you care or not) at the cost of slower channel changes.

Also take note that the service isn't going to be tied to only people having Comcast as their ISP so they hope to take customers away from other cable companies by allowing them to use their application to watch Comcast TV even though they are using XYZ Internet service. Which is likely to make any ISP that also provides TV service but currently doesn't have a monthly bandwidth usage limit seriously think about starting one to help keep their customers from looking at a service like Comcast is providing.

That's a good way to insure the death of venture capital and IPOs. After all with the current legal environment a shareholder can't legally know what is going on inside the company when deciding what to do with their stock so no one would be foolish enough to take on the liability when they have no say in what happens inside the company (other than the occasional election of officers/board members) and no knowledge of what those people are doing outside of what is public knowledge.

The only way this idea works already exists and that's with a limited set of owners of a company that are involved in the running of said company. So they know what is going on in the company and can directly influence those actions. Shareholders are removed from that direct influence and inside knowledge.

If the Senate doesn't like them then hold hearings and vote the nominee down. There's no clearer way of sending a message on what they will not accept, but we know they don't want to put that message out there before an election which is why they are talking about not holding hearings and not casting a vote on this nominee.
