Yeah, now that I reread what he said, it's in the air. I read it as a "depression of 50%" but really it's an increase of 50%... Anyway, it's all semantics.
That exception only covers publication, like all copyright law. There is no law covering non-publication, unless, obviously, there is another illegal element, like child porn.
Nor do TV manufacturers provide us with anything. That's the network, who DOES have a revenue stream. It doesn't cost Sony anything for me to still have my functioning TV. However, with ReplayTV, they have promised you a service for the lifetime of the machine with no way to pay for it besides your single initial outlay.
I remember back in the day we did this to a certain guy we knew, we set up these "free email forwarding" accounts and had 5 accounts. Each of them was set up so that when it received an email, it would forward to the other four and our mark. It took oh, about an hour for his email box to receive 16,000 emails saying "your hard drive is now full" (he ran his own mail server at the time.) Those were the days.....
If you encourage people to stay at Slashdot, since it sucks in your opinion, the more they stay here, the more they will become frustrated with it and look to Kuro5hin and thus, you will still be peeing in your pool. ;)
(I used a.gif from Amazon of a cover of a "for Dummies" book, modified it, and gave it to my dad for Christmas.)
This is not actually illegal. Copyright law only applies to publication or distribution, and showing something to a family member is not considered either of these. You can remix any song with any other song you'd like or make a poster from your favorite movie in the privacy of your own home. It's when you make it public even in the smallest way that you get in trouble.
MSNBC.com has this story on PayPal facing a class action lawsuit.... is it just me or does it seem like/. is skipping this story? Maybe Taco bought a whack of shares in their IPO last week:)
And here is Google 's return on the query "paypal problems".
I wonder if this class action suit is for US residents only, as there are 13 million members, a good number of whom live outside the borders of the States. I recall the HP/Panasonic CD-R drive class action suit a year or two ago and being Canadian (go Team Canada today and tomorrow in Hockey!) I wasn't able to partake in it.
For those of you who want to sign up for this suit, here is the link to the lawyers registration form.
And it is entirely possible that if these humans remained in reproductive isolation for long enough, they could evolve into another species altogether.
Well then we'd just have to kill them and start over! Muahahahahaha!
The ugly is very appealing to man.... It's instinct. One shrinks from the ugly, yet wants to look at it. There's a devilish fascination in it. We extract pleasure from horror.

ya gotta love a bunch of college kids bitching about their landlord. That's really the essence of life.
After a month she stopped calling and has never looked back. Hopefully she can convince my dad that there are other alternatives. If this continues Apple can grow beyond it's 4.5 marketshare.
As long as your family has at least 80,000 people in it...
The point is that anything beyond 90 is actually behind the screen.
:)
Peace,
Garrett
BTW, I can't wait but my price point is actually 18 inches $500 so i may have a little while...

Yeah except that he said a "50+% emplyoment depression". So, if unemployment were 4% before and it's 6% now, bingo, he's right, you read wrong.

i don't know about you, but the thought of relying on windows to stay up more than half a day is not good
That's stupid... I've had awesome months-long uptimes with XP. So have my friends who run it. Yeah, 98/me blew. XP is kickass. Get over your zealotry.
ReplayTV doesn't have a subscription cost.
Not that I don't wonder about a company with no continuing revenue stream, but fwiw, there's no cost. (I have a Tivo.)

So its only a self feeding logic loop if you inform the unwashed and patentedly web illiterate slashdot crowd.
From the redundant redundancy department.
(And no, I'm not a hypocrite)

It wouldn't be that hard and it would be really sweet.
