I tried voting on this, and Facebook's own voting system kept failing on some or other unspecified technical "error", so I wouldn't entirely blame apathy, and apathy is also engendered by not bothering to have a working technical system for voting.
I also got the email and attempted to vote on this - and got the same voting 'error' you describe; knowing now that I was not the only one to experience this, has me wondering whether Facebook was more interested in seeing the voting process itself fail.
I worked at a company 3 years ago on a project to create a secured web application, and a lot of js was used for functionality (think AJAX -- before AJAX was cool)... I came across a block of code submitted by the lead dev in a js file, that was copied EXACT, including the copyright commenting placed by the author of the code -- complete with the url to find said code on the web! Now, I felt this needed addressing, but upon doing so to the management of the company (a small outfit in the NE US, small enough I knew the CEO on first name basis), all I got was negative flack for pointing it out. Go figure.
I admit not having had the time to scan through all the comments on this article- but it raises an interesting point in my mind, relating to another recently-discussed discovery, that being of the fellow that found "kryptonite" in a Serbian mine... if we have found kryptonite on Earth now, and it would appear (from the gravity/mass/star-type data) we have now found "Krypton" the planet... should we begin to search the midwestern US for a "really strong kid" ??
what's funny about this story and the comments, is IE users are blasted by you penguinheads as automatically stupid and brainwashed zombies. I would simply put forth that: he who cries wolf, is usually the guilty party.
My God! It's full of Starfish!!!
