There's no such thing as "non-lethal", there is "less-lethal". To call any of these devices "non-lethal" is to obfuscate how dangerous they are.
Many people have died already due to tasers & CS spray, this will be no different. People will be blinded or put in positions where they lose their lives due to abuse. If you can't talk someone out of a situation then don't kid yourself that a gun is more lethal than any of these "less-lethal" devices.
All contravene the Geneva Convention & other treaties designed to stop human rights abuses.
And this is another reason I am happy to be Australian. We have very strong consumer protection laws that stop this kind of bullshit. Service providers are regularly audited, the TIO has the power to send cases to the regulator, and you still get the same service no matter if you're on the lowest plan or on the top plan.
By no means is our system perfect, but it's a damn sight better than the US.
You're missing the point of the GP's post. You rely on the fourth party, but really, you know little about their security requirements. I personally refuse to use 2 factor unless it's via a time sync key (can be done easily via a phone app) as any message being sent to you can be intercepted in various ways.
Bullshit. Hacked Xbox 360's can be played online, and it's actually Xbox/ps3 that stop you from selling games 2nd hand with the "online pass" systems.
If you actually knew anything about what you were talking about you'd realise that piracy across all platforms PC or console is rampant. I'm guessing you work for a console developer and you drank the "pirates are on PC" kool-aid.
A TV show here in Australia has a segment called "WHAT WOULD PUTIN DO?" (show is about advertising), goes over his many exploits doing things such as this (saving whales, saving babies, saving baby whales, whatever).
Good show old chap, if I had mod points, you'd have them.
my 10TB server I bought & built with my fiancee disagrees with your narrow view of the world. Just because you're not capable of planning ahead doesn't mean others aren't. More astroturfing from Microsoft's elite!
I don't see ANY similarities between the Gyro Mouse and the Kinect. None at all. Care to explain how there are any similarities? You can identify one difference, but I don't think you're looking hard enough.
I did have a NAS a while ago, but I got rid of it in favour of building up a linux server. I found that NAS performance is slow at best, abysmal at worst, even with 1gbps networking & a decent controller. Unless you go corporate style you're always going to suffer from speed problems.
Having 3 network cards and enough space for 15 drives makes up for the few hundred extra dollars you pay for a DIY NAS. Plus, a DIY NAS has a lot more flexibility than the consumer grade NAS.
The only way I found it comfortable to play was with a controller and not with my keyboard. It is another example of a grand scale fuckup in the MMO industry.
I won't be subbing to or playing games from Sony ever again after the SOE hacks.
I love them too... the clit mouse is underused. I actually find that a good trackball or a clit mouse much more responsive and agile than a trackpad. The only "touch/trackpads" I like are 1:1 screen or graphics tablet based.

To paraphrase Terra Nova - Cooking is like science, except when you're finished you get a treat!

No, but it does become plutonium.
It's not what you pirate, but who sanctions the piracy.
Steam is losing customers at a slow trickle.

Nope, that's the ether that causes meth labs to explode. I won't go into details, but you use a shitload of ether in amphetamine production.
Exactly what I was thinking. GP has no idea what DRM is, or where it started. Fucking fail.
Add to this that Greece going under is mainly due to there being a culture of not paying taxes & the huge cash-in-hand economy.
Isn't that what these Libertarian/Republicans in the US want? Small government, low taxes, etc?
Greece is a chilling vision of things to come for the US if this neoconservative ideology is continued to be pushed.
Someone learnt how to use bold on slashdot, want a medal or something?
hahaha, that's awesome.

because no single NASA invention has ever helped the 3rd world. Not the water filters, emergency blankets, dehydrated foods, the list goes on.
Maybe you should learn before commenting like an arse.
anything on ZDNet is going to be a Microsoft shill piece.

said by someone who's never video chatted with anyone.
You'd never ask that question if you'd ever partaken in the activity.

Yep, but somehow it's more expensive to ship to Australia than the US, even though we're closer to the Taiwanese factories that make them.
next... sharks with frickin lasers!
Tell me about it... oh well, might as well quit my job now.
