I liked how difficulty was presented in the Prince of Persia series (the recent relatively recent games starting with Sands of Time, not the 80s old school). If you die or mess up, you can rewind time back to before you died, giving you another chance. This could only be done a fixed amount of times in the same situation, but was infinitly better than the restart the level method used in other games.
Most people who I know play it are not satisfied with the content, so instead of announcing an expansion they should focus on finishing what is already out. With this announcement, I bet a lot of people are going to decide not to resubscribe and just wait for the expansion.

I am fully aware that they are pro both those things, but this level of stories when there is such a wide range covered seems excessive. Not to mention most of the stories are almost worthless even for people who like linux.

I just counted 6 of the stories on the front page of slashdot.org frontpage include linux (out of 20 total stories). This is 30%. While I have nothing against linux or the people that use it (just the people that try to force it upon others), it's like the second life stories: I just don't care. Sometimes a unrelated story shows up under the category linux so I don't unfilter it, but it does seem like there is Linux spreading agenda going on here.
Just observations made by a casual observer. The purpose of this post is to see the reasoning behind so many linux fluff stories making front page (because most of them should stay on the linux section only).
I have absolutely no sympathy for the girl who used her camcorder to record a movie. Everyone knows it is wrong. And it's not some small little crime like shoplifting a candy bar. You have to have a camcorder and have to willingly take it out and start recording, knowing all the time that it is wrong.
Criminal actions beget punishment. Now is the maximum punishment too severe (1 year in jail, $2500 fine)? Perhaps... I'd say just slap her with a few hundred dollar fine.
The main point I was stressing is the learning curve compared to other OS's. I'm not saying VI is bad or inferior for everyone, just for me as I am used to multi-tabbed, syntax highlighting text editors with many advanced features.
I don't mind debating, and I feel I am open minded. I am expressing my initial thoughts of Linux as being not easy to pick up on (again, steep learning curve). But when I am modded a troll for expressing my opinion, it kinda reinforces some stereotypes.
I love how I got modded Troll for an honest post based upon my opinion. It shows that there are a some Linux fanactics who negatively mod any negative or critical post about Linux, no matter how it's presented.
I was told to use VI to access files in terminal because I was unable to access them through the file directory and if I opened them in GEdit they would be read-only.
Again, I stress that I am expressing my experiences as a NEW Linux user.
Linux is about as easy to use for new users as a helicopter is to operate. I'm using Ubuntu at work atm and I am a long-time Windows user. I hate having to do things through the terminal and VI is horrible compared to the advanced GUI editors I am used to. Linux still has a long ways to go before it is easy enough to use for the masses (ie you don't have to memorize a lot of crap or mess around in a terminal to do anything).
Ubuntu is a step forward though, I've seen older Linux iterations that make me want to cry:O.
Why do the more rabid users of Firefox/Linux/etc always look down upon the people who use IE/Windows/etc?
Who cares what people use there is not a CLEAR choice that is superior in every way. So it is opinion not fact.
Due to the prevalence of these cafes and the ungodly amount of time younger kids WASTE here, hopefully these laws will encourage these kids to do other more productive things in their free time. Kids are not known to be responsible, especially on items good for their own welfare. I'm not saying a little wasted time is a bad thing, but spending so much time on these type of games can have a serious negative impact on the social life of the kids and their school grades. I know several people who have dropped out of college or have trouble holding jobs due to these addictions.
Granted, I'm sure some kids will find ways to get around this (like alternate between cafes). But it is the hassle of doing so that will hopefully encourage kids to limit themselves.
Anyone else sick of seeing so many stories about this game? It only has what, 20k subscribers? Yet it seems I see at least one news article a week about it.
Just because someone doesn't believe in evolution or big bang doesn't mean they are an idiot. Growing up, I was taught tolerance and understanding of other beliefs, not arrogance and talking down to others.
BTW I believe in both God (but don't subscribe to any Christian denomination) and evolution/big bang.

I agree, most if not all of Second Life's press comes from the stories like this generated by the media.

This post is so loaded it's laughable.
