My experience providing support has been to the contrary. Casual users and less technically inclined users seem to hate metro. I am frequently asked to implement replacements for metro for these folks.
At the NSA they need to do things like have employees print and scan documents. That's simply not always possible with linux. Believe me, I've tried with my printer for a year.
PEBKAC or a need for new hardware, these things aren't always possible with windows either.
Netflix is available in Canada since last year from what I read. ca.netflix.com. I don't know what is available to Canadians as compared to the USA, but it's there.
