I am pretty much sure that both US and Russian Nuclear submarine operations are classified to the extent that even the accidents are not reported. So there is only a few leads we can actually count on.
In any case, Russian nuclear submarine usage has not dropped that drastically, but rather old submarines were retired.
The Russians are talking about building boats for the nuclear reactor. Sea can be more stable than land in some ways. But what do you do when a great big iceberg is coming your way?
How fast do you think icebergs move? Or do they have propulsion systems other then currents? A free floating(anchored, but free floating to a degree) platform would have no issues, except uncatastrophically pushed by the iceberg in some direction.
This is not about the company itself. But rather the solution. There are more Spring framework production systems then there are WebSphere Application Servers out there.
The company may not threaten, but the software stack is already on the heels of IBM and Oracle.
Am I cynical to think that these businesses will just raise the cost of their goods to cover the additional tax, thus making consumers the ones to pick up this $210 billion tab? I somehow doubt that publicly traded companies are excited to see the earnings hit show up in their quarterly statements.
Well as the major investors in your own companies, maybe you should stop demanding them to increase those quarter-to-quarter profits and think just a little about the long term?
You bitch about the bosses that do everything to increase quarterly profits, however when going back home you are the root of that evil. Since you as an investor evaluate these CEO's and management by exactly the same standards. And then penalize others for not performing the thing that you bitch about - doing everything to increase quarterly profits!
He probably did this preposterous thing called WORK. Just imagine the nerve of some little person asking to be compensated and not scammed by tax evasion.
I have to repeat myself: Preposterous!
The current crisis has shown that spending cannot grow indefinitely just because you are borrowing from a bank!
And in current situation there will be no increase in collected taxes, when taxes go down. You know, recession.
You must be joking. There is a logical way of doing things. Sign 2 way agreements with a bunch of major, non tax haven, countries, that will only add tax equal to the positive difference in tax rates. And only to funds transfered from one country to another, that is if money stays in the originating country no taxes are due.
That would break the neck of all those tax havens. Tough luck, people. The companies would not pay more than they would pay domestically on income coming from a non tax haven country with lower corporate income tax.
In Italy pirated software and video CDs and DVDs are still common place. I mean, there are people that are charged with preventing IP piracy, who are actively involved with it. And there are people making money off infringing copyright - the actual pirates.
The last place you get your copyright infringing items is the pirate bay.
Why are you wondering that your economy is going down the drains, when someone that does not produce anything valuable has an ability to sue for damages that he/she did not have.
Sue and get rich, that is the new American dream.
Please note that in russian free, as in beer, and Free, as in liberty, are different words. The Ministry replied with support for Free, as in liberty, Software development.
However Bob is already in all sectors and has already teamed up with everyone that is worth the capital costs of the production facilities and upfront R&D. And Bob has kickbacks to those that don't do business with Jim.
If they continue to go the monopoly abuse way, EU will increase fines till it's impossible to pay. Imagine if MS would get fined more then their yearly revenue, that would basically kill MS in EU.
Based on? There are greedy people everywhere. However in Europe, everyone has a safety net in everybody else. US has communities, Europe IS a community.
You, know. The Imaginary Property effect. So you would pay more for more. GPU manufacturers do it extensively, why do you think nVidia's Linux driver is in binary form?
Wow! A semi-reasonable price? WTF is that? But basically, anything that involves IP is hard to estimate a reasonable levels. And let me remind everyone, Intel is a publicly traded company. And a bunch of rather greedy people are demanding increases in profits, regardless of means of getting to those increases. Let me also remind you, that there is also a bunch of greedy(maybe not always) US citizens demanding the same directly, via their stock portfolio, and indirectly, via 401k's and other funds.
So let me tell you: Fuck you!
I will from now on call myself a fair free market advocate. And accusing someone of being "the Free Market Champion of the World" while GP never stated (s)he was a free market advocate.
And yes, if you corporations wish to push your dope on us, let them play BY OUR rules, not yours. Our corporations play by your rules when dealing in US.
BTW, I lived though US sponsored "free market" transformation of my country and that was a long lasting nightmare. I am thankful that EU accession required to deviate from US sponsored plan, enough to "wake up" from that nightmare.
WTF is up with you lawsuit happy Americans! How can anyone sue for not being hired? I can understand that while applying for a state position. But a position at a private company is just incomprehensible for me.
It's like saying: I am under qualified, but because I can sue, you will have to hire me.
I do not understand that, even a little bit. A company can hire anyone they wish, based on whatever criteria they want. Just because it's a private company.
Next thing you know, you will be suing people for not being friends with you, just because you suspect that that may be based on race, religion os something else.
The same result if the connection of the CC terminals go out. So really, if internet goes at a POS, the software is the least of your problems, getting payments off the CC is the biggest issue.
Fuck You! We(a lot of/. readers) know better than most.
Most of us, programmers, prepare and practice for YEARS! My practice session was 7 years and I am still updating my knowledge. And unlike most "artists" when I stop creating software I stop getting payed, absolutely. An architect does not expect to be payed each time you enter you house, but a musician an a lot of other "artists" DO!(I know this analogy fails miserably in a lot of cases, but still...)

Hey! Everyone has the incentive to become a drug dealer. Imagine that, you have the most loyal customer base EVAR!
However, Spring has already found itself into a really big bunch of corporations. Spring knowledge is the most sought after Java skill out there.
This is not about the company itself. But rather the solution. There are more Spring framework production systems then there are WebSphere Application Servers out there.
The company may not threaten, but the software stack is already on the heels of IBM and Oracle.
Whoop, you caught me at synergy :)

When breaking into an established market - Competitive*.
When killing off new competition - Illegal and anti-competitive.
* Does not apply, if having a legal monopoly in one market, leverage a legal monopoly to gain a monopoly in another - a.k.a unCompetitive advantage.
