I think the users are probably the worst thing about Linux. I'm not saying that all users are bad, but what annoys me is the people whose only response to a question is RTFM.

This really irks me. The users of GNU/Linux wrote those fabulous (and freely available) manuals (HOWTOs, FAQs, infos, mans, etc.) to answer your questions. They *are* being helpful. And you complain because you want them to read the answers to you? I don't think it is rude to tell a lazy person to do their own homework.

  4. Resurrection on Dynamix Closed Down? · · Score: 3, Interesting

Quest games (Sierra oldschool) are gone, but they need to be resurrected - both for first time gamers (ages 10+) to develop lateral thinking skills and the idea of following a storyline, but also for us veterans who just miss the genre.

This could happen. There is already an opensource Sierra On-Line Adventure Game Interpreter (AGI) in development at sarien.sourceforge.net . It would not be too much of a stretch to develop new AGI titles based on sarien.
Any wannabe game developers out there? :)

In fact, British Airways has an official policy of not seating young children next to men when children fly alone.

Oh, yeah, that sounds like a *real* problem. I would actually request that the airline NOT seat an unsupervised young child next to me on an airplane. Do you really want a mommy-less brat dripping snot and whining next to you for X hours?

I thought Swindler's Lust had a good hook to it. And besides being a good song, it was cool that PE offered it as a free mp3 download from their official web site, at a time when everyone else was getting their panties in a bunch over that new "internet mp3 thing" that was "stealing money from the artists". Besides, it was a good enough pun on "Schindler's List" to get the Anti-Defamation League to denounce them. Waahh!

You have missed the point. Apple is asking for registration information. BFD. The alarm clock I bought yesterday came with a registration card to fill out and snail mail. Guess what? It asked for Name, Address, and Phone. That is pretty common.
The problem with WPA is that it ties Windows to a particular machine with a particular configuration. If you crack open that OSX box and swap the RAM about, Apple is not going to require that you reregister. Change the innards of your new WinXP machine, and it will stop working if you don't call up MS and reactivate. That is intrusive.

I know all about the Advocacy HOWTO, and I personally am not a flamey mail-bomber. But I believe it IS an effective form of advocacy. This article on slashdot, and last weeks rant about Loki/Blizard ports on LinuxGames shows that people DO pay attention when deluged in hate-mail.
