For a minute there i thought it said "Denise Richards". Oh well, still an interesting read!

  2. Thoughts on Sim-Dud? · · Score: 1

My initial thought, would be that this would be a very interesting MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game). Being a former everquest addict myself, the only reason I played as much as I did was because of the social aspect of the game. the social aspect drew you in so deep, as you had to associate yourself with other players, make a reputation for yourself if you really wanted to go anywhere in everquest.

This is where it seems TSO lacks. There's no real need to make a reputation for youself, as there's no need to advance in the game (or so I'd imagine, I haven't actually played the damn thing). I would hope that if EA Games wants to succeed in making the sims online actually make some money for them, then they actually integrate some sort of long term goals you might want to achieve, as everquest did. otherwise, what's the use in playing it?

I'm surprised we haven't seen this come out earlier.. it's always been practical to do, given most free ISPs offer a directory that's flagged executable.

Kudos to these guys who developed this, but I hate to see how this is going to be exploited

Not much, they'll just come out with new chips that will work with the new systems, much like they do with sony continually coming out with new ps2 models.

  7. Re:Don't forget your GeForceFX on Athlon 64 Pushed Back to September · · Score: 1

I still am a firm believer that most non-nerds that play games aren't aware that they can get more out of their performance by simply upgrading their ram from 512 to say, 1gb or so rather than making an expensive upgrade on something such as a new video card which can only give them minimal added performance given the amount of system ram they have.

  8. Is it just me? on Tech Firms Fight Copy Protection Laws · · Score: 1, Interesting

Is it just me or don't all types of anti-piracy methods seem to be completely in-vein? I mean, as long as hollywood is going digital with everything, and data exists on DVDs, someone gets their hands on it, and someone, somewhere will find a way to crack it. Then hollywood will come out with some new anti-piracy method, someone else will crack it.. rinse, repeat.

Don't get me wrong, i respect the attempts that hollywood is making at trying to keep their income as high as possible and protect their copyrighted work, but the amount of people that will actually download a movie instead of seeing it in the theater seems to be negligable at best. If anything, if I download a new movie from a reel-rip and like what I see, I'll probably spend money I normally wouldn't have going to see it in the theater.

It just dosen't make a whole lot of long-term sense to try to protect these movies from peer-to-peer networks. It's inevitable they're going to exist on peer-to-peer, and, in my opinion, is wasted effort in trying to protect.

  10. No Success on Getting A Tech Job During High School? · · Score: 1

I am going to be a junior in high school, turning 17 in august, and have applied to numerous companies, and alas, with no success whatsoever.

Some of the companies i have applied to included General Electric, NuEdge Systems where they wanted me to overhaul their web page, and i was really really close to getting the job, but the same excuse seems to come up alot.

"I'm sorry, but we're not ready to start this project yet"

And i've heard this excuse from at least 3 companies. Another example includes a company called Exacta Corp., where they saw my resume on monster.com and they were very interested, but again, the excuse came...

"I'm sorry, but we still haven't opened up our internship program yet. We will give you a call in a few months."

Well, its been 4 months, and not a single phone call.

Another company that i was applying to, ironically the company my father worked for, Compuware, but that didn't work out due to some messed up reasons.

Well that's enough out of me. Just giving you some feedback on what my experience with job searching has been as a soon to be junior in High School
