    A psudonym at least is a psudonym for an actual person, but "Anonymous Coward" is shared across many. You can't say, "Oh, that's Anonymous Coward! I saw his post in ______" because you dont know which anonymous coward is doing the posting. With names you have name recognition.

    Wheras there are many 'physical' are designed to protect consumers from fraudulent and unfair business practices, so far every 'digital' law is designed to screw us, the consumers, over by making (probably eventually) every illegal business practice legal, as long as you do it on the net. Sure, that makes sense, if the companies do illegal stuff to consumers, it's wrong, right? So make it legal, then it'll be right!

    What is up with this? The Internet shouldn't be about corporations, but the governments are trying their hardest to give it to corporate rule. Eventually they'll say that the internet is it's own country and Bill Gates will be the dictator.

    I personally think the ideal internet shoiuldnt be run by physical governments, because it's worldwide. It should be recognised as it's own 'universe' and should have it's own governing body, laws, etc.

    I just realised why the reason that the number of idiots doubles every 18 months.

    As teh world becomes more techno-centric, the 'average' level will continue to raise as mor eand more people actually figure out what a 'program' is other than a few flashy pictures and the occsaional rocket launcher- and therefore the 'bar' is raised, so more people of the same intelligence as originally considered smart are now considered stupid.

    This post is inherently pointless, I realise this, but i don't care!

    I just had a thought... there may be a benifit to send something REALLY important usin ga nonsense message code, but crypt it really lax-like. Most people wouldnt bother to decrypt it because it's so easy- the people that would would say "bleh, it's just nonesense"....

  13. Perhaps you could do it this way on Best Way to Get Kids Started in Programming? · · Score: 1

    Introduce them to the basics of programming using a game such as Mindrover. It has a basic if-then system with boolian logic, - you tie sensors and such on to logic blocks, and then onto say, an engine or a rocket launcher, so you can say that if you see an enemy directly in front, and see nothing behind, to fire retro thrusters, or somesuch.
    ...
    Sure it's no C++ but it might be a good way to get them into the idea of programming.

    In the AP Calculus I took he tought us primariliy in paper-and-pencil stuff, but the exams, and tests, had both "calculator" and "non calculator" parts. He taught us the stuff in the calculator for questions that you had to derive with decimals to the power of some division thing- but he DID teach us all the important methods for doing stuff on paper.

    There is something to be said about being able to play Final Fantasy 8 and Chrono Cross on a dreamcast.

    But i didnt even knowthe dreamcast supported CDroms.

    The quake guy is supposed to be an 'alias' for yourself, but the sims are supposed to be able to handle themselves for aw hile, just like simcity or simearth can to some extent.

    Real People Aren't THat Stupid.

    Well, actually, in most cases they ARE, but they're stupid in different places (not like "run and point at the fire and jump up and down" stupid)

    Amazingly fast, I can belevie. But I somehow doubt they're going to get off their collective ass and write drivers that actually run it at that speed.

    The engine's fast, but ATI uses 2 octane fuel.

    I find this odd, since before the release of the PS2, the AMERICAN government was (quite stupidly) talking about restricting the overseas sales of PS2s. This was, of course, stupid, sincme the PS2s were made in *JAPAN* for sale in *JAPAN* so they couldnt very well slap any export laws on it

    The PS2 really isnt all that powerful, really. It just doesnt have the overhead that a comparable-power PC has to worry about.

    IIRC, the processor is what, a 400?
