  1. Clinical Insanity on Solving Climate Change By Bioengineering Humans? · · Score: 0

These are invocations of insanity, this must be the opposite of bioethics. Seriously though, don't let this kid in your house.

  2. Both Ways ... on Chinese Spies Used Fake Facebook Profile To Friend NATO Officials · · Score: 0

You can play this both ways! Set up honey Pot NATO "special palls" fake accounts with "too good to be true" details attached. This will keep everyone typing and uploading fake contrived pictures happily for weeks. Think of the lies they could feed each other, and how big the final facebook agency will become in terms of budget and company cars. It's the war of the future! :0)

  3. I'm a heathen vik on Meteorite Crashes Through Cottage In Oslo · · Score: 0

I'm a heathen vik, have they been breaking the Rune Law? Maybe the gods are angry, but like astrophysicists! :0)

  4. There waiting in the "Test Chamber" on Amoeboid Robot Moves Autonomously Without Centralized Brain · · Score: 0

Don't worry Gordon Freeman, she's been suitably "De-Beaked."

  5. Namespace on USS Enterprise Takes Its Final Voyage · · Score: 1

According to my understanding of naval vessel namespace conventions, gleaned entirely from Jean-Luc Picard's office's decorative models, the name U.S.S. Enterprise will now be re-designated to another slightly more powerful machine with better computers. Hmmm ...

  6. Star Trek? on Meet The Man Who Designed a Tablet Computer 15 Years Before the iPad · · Score: 0

Wasn't this in star trek "The Original Series" with a pen on a wire? I believe Yeoman Rand held it for James T Kirk to sign occasionally onscreen.

  7. Mobile Devices Games on 'Of Course We Are In a Post-PC World,' Says Ray Ozzie · · Score: 0

I've always been at the forefront of wearable computing. Mobile devices' games are very shoddy in comparison with PC games, and game platforms are a dead end - you lose the game next model up. Can you really ask your secretary to do touch typing on a tablet PC? I think these kids are in for a jolt when they try to force their strange fantasy on straightforward real users.

  8. Freeze! on LED's Efficiency Exceeds 100% · · Score: -1

Step out of the lab, easy now, hands where I can see 'em. I've got you covered! Have you ever heard of the law of conservation of energy? Is this your hand built photon detector?

  9. Lynx - cool! on Gate One Brings Text-mode Surfing To the Web, Quake-Style · · Score: 0

I love lynx, but does it have the ability to put the screen in monocolor without recompiling the binary? I often wind up using "Links" to fit in with with my usual mono color POSIX / BSD look and feel spec machine because of this. Out of idle curiosity, has anyone got the svga lib graphics version to work at the command line?

  10. Squeeky Bass on Why Distributing Music As 24-bit/192kHz Downloads Is Pointless · · Score: 0

If you record sound with the Bass guitar at live gig levels, the bass goes squeaky with most forms of compression. Severe wave forms break during most forms of compression. With a straight WAVE file it sounds fine. That's what I have found.

  11. Scientific Method on Growth of Pseudoscience Harming Australian Universities · · Score: 1

You mean current Medsci has any scientific research behind it at all? You could have fooled me!

  12. Alpha Female Syndrome on Government Should Ban Skinny Models To Curb Anorexia, Say Researchers · · Score: 0

Why should you assault sexy women because some mental health patients get an eating disorder as part of their symptoms. This is just SICK! But then again assaulting alpha males and females is also a vicious standard mental health disorder symptom ... Leave fit and healthy people alone!

  13. Good on With 8 Cards, Wolfenstein Ray Traced 7.7x Faster · · Score: 1

Good, FHD 1080p is old now too, UV Ray disks are about 4 times as wide and that's coming "Real Soon Now."

  14. Wait a second! on Warp Drives May Come With a Killer Downside · · Score: 0

The warp drive was never supposed to work by gravitational space distortion, as I recollect new research into Quantum Mechanics revealed that there were more dimensions than the three that we have (plus time) but a myriad of different dimensions that formed the structure of space. It was hoped that an investigation into these other dimensions would allow for a lower energy distortion of space to occur, or for a shortcut to be found (warp conduit tunnelling or “hyper-space”.) This is the “Tech” that was “borrowed” by sci-fi researchers and not the Alcubierre thought expreiment which relies on a tech that turns you into a singularity / black hole in about 2 seconds flat! :0)

  15. It's a trick on After Complaints, AT&T Solidifies, Increases Data Limit · · Score: 0

It's a trick, they should give a full connection and not assault users with their own software updates, etc. I would not dare put ANY limit or choke on myself, in the light of current debate.

  16. Not that old trick! on One In Eight Chance of a Financially Catastrophic Solar Storm By 2020 · · Score: 0

“Unless you give me 1 Bn USD in grant money to Nuke the other side of the sun, you will face ruin!” :0)

  17. A fun story! on Why Didn't the Internet Take Off In 1983? · · Score: 1

A fun story! In the UK, domestic customers used AOL and Compuserve to access the internet through a gateway. You could buy modem packs at Tandy. We had Prestel that had an email gateway too. People in academic and military institutions could access the internet at work. The problem then? (1) it was VERY expensive to use UK telephones for this long, (2) phone lines were unreliable and slow (3) and there was hardly any content available.

  18. What? on NSA Publishes Blueprint For Top Secret Android Phone · · Score: 0

So someone's been selling insecure phones eh? Every phone sold should be completely secure, what went wrong with regular phones and can it be fixed?

  19. Lost Opportunity on Is Stratfor a "Joke"? · · Score: 0

If only they had known in advance, they could have planted tracer data, skitsing data and subvert data in the feed! Better luck next time ...

  20. The REAL laws of Kama on Controversial Bioethicist Resigns From Celltex · · Score: -1, Troll

They are meddling with the forces of Nature, forces that they cannot control or understand. I believe that the Bioethicists role is designed around a misconception of why we have ethics, and as a consequence the ethics go wrong. If your ethics go wrong in a certain manner, you break as a person. Your job will fail, in other words.

  21. LOL Snurk Snurk on Azure Failure Was a Leap Year Glitch · · Score: 0

  22. Palm on HP Cuts Staff As WebOS Transitions To Opensource · · Score: 1

  23. Anonymous on 25 Alleged Anonymous Hackers Arrested By Interpol · · Score: 0

So it's a case of "Remember remember the 5th of November, Gunpowder, Treason and Plot" as we say in the UK on "Guy Fawkes Day."

  24. Easy on The Internet Blueprint Wants You To Crowdsource Digital Laws · · Score: 0

  25. H2 on US Wants Natural Gas As Major Auto Fuel Option · · Score: 0

Nuclear Power generated Cryo H(2) and O(2) by water electrolysis is best, it has a higher SI. It gives a nice white flame when you put your foot down. Car crashes are a bit like a hypobaric fuel/air bomb though! :0)
