Felt really bad when I imagined the exchange you describe.
Seems to me that the thinking would go something like this:
"Why do those Red Hat guys want their OS on that cheap laptop? They must have a long-range plan to make money from it at some point, otherwise they wouldn't be involved. We need to get Windows on there too, we'll figure out how to monetize it later."
Ahh... not typically harmful to land-lubbers like humans, but what about sea-dwelling critters like Capt. Jack... uh I mean fish? Particularly food fish like Tuna?
