I lived and worked off of Capital Circle NE.. I was always having problems getting stuck behind some moron who was only going 30mph in the left hand lane and suddenly realized they needed to make a right hand turn so they would block the left and center lanes. Turns out they wanted to turn a mile down the road, but they just had to get over there.
I did enjoy laughing at the natives who complained about traffic though. They'd have a heart attack if they ever got stuck in rush hour traffic in the northeast..:)
Dec 1997 through Jan 2001. By the time I moved back north, it seemed that people had pretty much stopped doing it. I never heard anything from the people I worked with at the FDLE that they had disabled the systems or whatnot.
That's one thing I don't miss about Tally (not that there's a lot I do miss).. Stupid traffic patterns and stupid drivers. I'd rather have the crazy drivers you get around the DC area..:)
When I lived in Tallahassee, FL, they had systems like that. When people found out there were a lot of people flashing their headlights at the red lights. Eventually, the cops started sitting by random intersections and fining people who did it.
One of the odd things about Tallahassee, they announced where (some) speed traps would be on the radio on the morning. They never did announce where they'd be waiting for this, though.
Maybe prior art searches will improve once the USPTO moves into the new two million square foot USPTO campus, which includes five interconnected buildings, a twelve-story atrium, a landscaped two-acre park, and a museum.
I can see it now:
"Another patent application. Time to stroll through the park to the museum to see if there's any prior art. I love this job.."
Really gets on my nerves when such gadgets don't simply act as a standard USB storage device... I mean, all you want to do is upload your music...
In that case, you have nothing to be concerned about with iRiver.
All of their USB devices (iHP, iFP, etc) have firmware available that lets them act as USB mass storage. The iFP series (I don't know for sure about the iHP) comes with the proprietary version as default because it is faster that way, but a simple firmware upgrade and you have a UMS device.
And if you only have Linux, you can use ifp-line for file uploads/downloads and firmware updates.
I'm willing to bet that there will be an "Update" version of SuSE 9.0 for x86-64 (I know there will be one for x86) which is only $50. The only diff between it and Pro, is that the Update doesn't have as many manuals in the box.
I've always felt I got my money's worth when buying SuSE, especially now that they make the Update editions.
According to amazon.de, the 64-bit edition of SuSE 9.0 is the same price as SuSE 9.0 Pro (around $80). This means it's simply the Pro edition compiled for x86-64. I'm sure there will be a version of SLES (if there isn't already) for x86-64. That will be the one to compare to RHEL.
That's what they say, but when half the machines in my office were affected by the Welchia virus, all it did was spread itself. It did nothing to patch the machines. I had to do that myself after removing the virus. (*grumble* stupid execs *grumble)
It still amazes me how many people get the location wrong.
The Wright brothers did not make their "historic" (and somewhat debated) flight at Kitty Hawk, NC, they made it at Kill Devil Hills, a few miles to the south. This misconception was started because they sent the telegram to their mother from Kitty Hawk, which was the nearest town with a telegram station.
The only museum I've ever seen this info correct is the Wright Brothers National Memorial which is located where the flight occurred. Even the National Air & Space Museum has it wrong.
So.. When Doom III or any other OpenGL based game comes out, will it be listed?
I'm half tempted to see what games it might list for me right now, but it doesn't seem to be available with Mozilla Firebird..
Ack.. This is what happens when you don't pay attention to which tab out of 30 you click on.. :(

This is much better than the so called "roadmap" that was mentioned on Saturday..
Out of curiosity, what were the other six sound cards?
I've had absolutely no problems with any Creative Labs product (SB16, AWE32, AWE64, and Live!) or the Aureal card I had at one point.
Phantasmagoria was great.. I loved looking for all the different ways to get the chick killed.. :)
So were a lot of other Monkees songs (especially early on).. Neil Diamond wrote a lot songs for other people.
Um.. No.
The best video quality (in the x86 market) has always been Matrox. They've just gotten themselves way behind the curve in terms of performance.
The concept makes me think of the controls the Asgard have on their ships. Placing/moving the "stones" can have all sorts of different effects.
Wensleydale? Stilton? Well, it's like no cheese I've ever tasted, lad!
I think he meant of then next IE which will be Longhorn only. Even XP users won't get it.
Guess what?
That means they paid nothing to Spyglass for Mosaic.
True, there was a version of IE for Solaris, but it was extremely slow and buggy. IIRC, it never got past version 4.0, either.

Even better:

Yes.. The Special Forces. The Army uses the Special Olympics as a recruiting test for them.
Didn't you know about them?
Did you really think Kamen meant the Rangers/Delta Force/Force Recon?

Yeah.. It says that right below.
Does make you wonder why they mentioned the individual steps, though.
