"There's just the simple realization that the world isn't a fucking fairy tale, that crying about it won't make it any better, and that you've got a fucking job to do."
I'm guessing that if this was the case, there would be less wars because people would realise the pointlessness of it all. The fact that the US has been able to maintain a fighting force in Iraq and Afghanistan, while obviously retaining the necessary power to defend the homeland, and while also carrying out whatever other ops they are up to (missiles into pakistan?) suggests to me that not a lot of critical thinking goes on in the military, or the issues that lead to war would be dealt with peacefully. War is simply the continuation of politics by any means.
I used to be a very selfish introvert before I took it and realised how awesome other people are, no matter who they are or what they look like. Completely changed my attitude to life in a positive way.
A friend of mine was your average south central LA banger until he took it, at which point he claims to have been given the perspective and clarity of thought to realise that he should get the fuck out of there and move to New Zealand, which he did.
Humans have evolved over the last 100,000 years with alcohol, pot and psychedelics in almost every culture and any efforts to seperate us from them are a) legislated morality, or worse b) an attempt to seperate us from our humanity for some other gain. (Perhaps to sell us harder-to-manufacture pharmaceuticals for profit).
If you don't like getting together with a bunch of people every couple of months to get fucked up and dance around in the bush for a few days that's OK, but don't give me that bullshit about it destroying thought and creativity.
Yes, but no. He couldn't write when he was wasted, he had to wait until he was sober to make sense of it. Definitely wouldn't be Ozzy without teh durgs.
Hmm. Imagine the quality of individual teaching would attract if they were paid similarly to doctors, accountants and lawyers. Hey, your average landscape gardner or rubbish truck driver makes more money than a high school teacher.
You are allowed to speak out against the government because it makes no difference. Want to see US 'freedom of speech' in action? Look at Kennedy and MLK.
I guess what I'm asking is whether there are any programmes to enhance the cognitive abilities of people who just want to be more capable in some way? Or is the research and practice focused on those with genetic/environmental/psychological setbacks?
Have you ever worked with people whose brains are wired typically? Your field is very interesting, a close friend of mine is involved in it but I don't really know a lot about it.
If you are a person of above-average intelligence you should be able to use your intelligence in the form of charisma to make yourself and your thoughts appealing to others.
If you have no social skills and you are good at math, then perhaps you aren't as smart as you think you are.
You assume that any country has any obligation to do anything that another country says? They're going to do it anyway. Not releasing the information means they will have to do the research and testing themselves.
Anonymous Coward, I hope you see the irony in your words. Any way you slice it, you will have to eventually accept that the US is the rogue state, Israel is an illegitimate occupation of Palestine, and that Iran is in the state it is in because of US intervention in the 70's.
Continued failure on behalf of American citizens to see these truths and demand accountability from their government will only lead to more suffering on all sides.
That's true, we do have the technology to avoid the mistakes of the past. Things like intellectual property laws do not help though. What good is a new technology to a developing country that can't afford to use it or deploy it effectively?
When the US releases all of its research and knowledge about nuclear devices to the world, this claim might get taken seriously. Until then, the US is just the kid in the treehouse pulling the ladder up so nobody else can get in.
You're just lazy, but don't worry, most people from any region of the world are as well. In New Zealand we barely pronounce our vowels at all, everything sounds like txt-speak to foreigners.
Agreed... the only people Americans deserve to be angry at are their bosses, for outsourcing jobs. Here's an idea - move to India and get a consulting job in a call center teaching Indians the latest American pop culture references.

All the things you talk about are problems caused by prohibition, not drugs.
Who the hell inhales freon? This is what happens when we make psychedelics illegal. :/
People will break into cars to steal alcohol, cigarettes, cash, sunglasses, cellphones, wallets, whatever they can see.

At least they completely understand you when you tell them the tubes are clogged. :)

While I do understand your comment, American countries really are full of drug lords and walking cocaine processing factories.

If they've chosen not to do so it's because they have another way to achieve their goal that requires less effort.

The most important lesson to learn from history is that nobody learns history's lessons.

And their cheap tech support services.

What's the difference between selling and supplying?
