it remains implicit in the issuance of such "guidelines" that if the behaviors described are observed, action should follow I don't believe it does. The guidelines, by explicitly advising people who are suspicious of a colleague's behavior to report it to the proper government authorities, and encouraging them to help those that are displaying early warning signs, does not leave an open-ended suggestion of "you know what to do, *wink-wink nudge-nudge* and you have our permission to do it". There will always be those school administrators who abuse their power, but this is not caused by an 11-page set of FBI guidelines.
Do you not think it worthwhile to catch spies? When would the benefits of following these guidelines outweigh the oh-so-egregious-human-rights-violations in your view?

What I was saying had less to do with language than "white guilt". I was referring to the attitude that "well, I'm white, and white people stole the land from the Indians and killed many of them, therefore the only fair thing is to let other people take my land and kill me". Similarly, forcing other people to learn English, when it is not the true native tongue of the US, would be immoral, so there should be no official language. I probably should have clarified that. My reply really had nothing to do with how quickly one can or should learn a language, but the cultural and racial aspect of the current language debate, which is what the issue is really about.

There's nothing inherent in the theory of evolution that requires junk dna. As far as it indicating design, even if it were a byproduct, what would stop it from disappearing further down the line? What mechanism would make it inevitable?

This is yet another consequence of limited space. What about all the things you've completely forgotten? How would you know that you've forgotten them? How do you verify the accuracy of all your memories?
