    Well this may be true, but you have to hire an army of lawyers to defend yourself even though you were correct and didn't do anything illegal.

    It's sad to say, but nowadays you are (for all intents and purposes) guilty unless you can afford to hire a lawyer to defend yourself.

    Those with money can crush others with legal might, even though they are wrong.

    What's the suprise? Are we all so shocked that the US would do something like this? We've enslaved our own people, rounded-up thousands of Japanese-American citizens in camps, and trashed people's native homes with conventional and nuclear bombs before.

    We may be one of the best countries out there to live in, but we are not perfect. Let's move to ensure that the government doesn't do this in the future.

  3. Symbolism of the Whole Thing on Geek Profiling: The Next W.A.V.E. · · Score: 1

    I know that many people today have touched on the disturbing and frightening symbolism (i.e. the W.A.V.E name and "The Wave" movie, 1984, Nazi Germany), but the most interesting cliche that I found was on the front page of the Wave's website. They wrapped five children up in the American flag as if the United States has to resort to fascism to protect its children! The symbolism is outrageous and personally disgusting. "Protect the children!", wrap yourself in the flag, it makes me sick how people can take their personal agendas and think that they can hide behind them! People are better than this. If not, God help us all.

    Basically, think of it this way. Rather than having two states available for computers to work with (on/off or 1/0) you can parallize groups of atoms (or better yet ions) together so that you have simultaneous 1/0 combinations (corresponding to each spin state +0.5/-0.5 or up/down) providing faster computational capabilities.

    Lack of Code-Forking Compounds Long-Term Credibility

    The GPL and its aversion to code forking reassures customers that they aren't riding an evolutionary `dead-end' by subscribing to a particular commercial version of Linux.

    The "evolutionary dead-end" is the core of the software FUD argument.

    { Very true -- and there's another glaring omission here. If the author had been really honest, he'd have noted that OSS advocates are well positioned to turn this argument around and beat Microsoft to death with it.
    By the author's own admission, OSS is bulletproof on this score. On the other hand, the exploding complexity and schedule slippage of the just-renamed ``Windows 2000'' suggest that it is an evolutionary dead end.

    The author didn't go on to point that out. But we should. }

    Even Microsoft admits that Linux has a very low probability of forking! Nuf said.

    We have also added a similiar statement to our website to help deter the spam that we receive at our domain. I haven't enforced it yet, and would like to hear of any more successes in getting the spammers to actually cough up the money that they have all cost us in time and effort. One particular method that I have found very effective and useful is the free Spamcop service. They will automatically track down the origin of the offending spam email and notify the appropriate administrative and abuse contacts of their ISP. I've had several responses from the ISPs stating that they have terminated the users account. Check it out at: http://www.spamcop.net
