Spammers could relatively easily make each spam email unique by changing small bits (like characters or words) of the message. Accounting for these would probably generate a lot of false positives.
Your ability to get internet access from the power company should not override my ability to transmit emergency intelligence over the air. Yet, that's exactly what's happened. It's fascist agenda, driven by profit.
It's not just about emergency, though that is definitely important. Licensed radio communications (for example ham radio) are supposed to be protected from interference by unlicensed emissions, such as Broadband over Power Lines (BPL). It's that simple as FCC policy.
I, too, put much stock in the belief that, fundamentally, the average person is good and has a strong moral compass. However, that is often not enough to make an informed decision.
Excellent point.
For example, take an issue such as abortion. If you ask the average person, "Is it alright to kill babies?" What do you think they'll say?
Or to put it this way, "At what point is a baby entitled to human rights?" as Rick Warren asked Barack Obama at Saddleback Church. This question inherently supports anti-abortion advocates, since it is hard for an average person to justify not granting "human rights."
Just for the record: I was referring to static text headlines, which is absolutely ridiculous as Flash. Static text content in general should never be Flash.
If you really need to create such a textbox please use images or Flash
Please not Flash. I know websites that use Flash for every single headline (with about a dozen headlines in a page, or more), when they could easily use an image or even text. This slows down the rendering of the page (or at least makes the rendering process awkward) and is especially ugly for people who don't happen to have Adobe Flash Plugin 9.0.124.0 installed or block it (i.e. FlashBlock).
You would not like it if they would compromise your GPL license, so do not compromise theirs. But they (RIAA/MPAA) already do compromise the GPL license. Look at the MPAA university toolkit.
Ubuntu installs a number of non-free software by default, including but not limited to anything in the restricted repository (binary kernel modules, etc.). Additionally, binary kernel firmware and non-free GLX are included in Ubuntu; I don't believe these are in restricted/multiverse even though they are non-free.
More then that they are some of the oldest stories we might consider part of modern Western Civilization. Sorry if I read to much into what you are saying.
"Western Civilization". Are you telling me there is no connection between Gilgamesh and Noah's Ark, and numerous other stories? And we can't really consider something solely "Western", as these are artificial boundaries between "East" and "West".
I wish I could mod you up several times because you make an excellent point that is not always realized. You can apply your point to an explanation of why Kubuntu 8.04 is not an LTS release (they don't want to keep KDE 3 for the length of the LTS release- 3 years on desktop, and KDE 4 was considered to unstable at the time).

I had a Microsoft keyboard. Trust me, I will not be getting another one.
But I'm sure the next keyboard you get will have a Windows key as proof of Microsoft's lasting legacy.
You also forgot to mention Microsoft mice and keyboards.
WBUR (Boston's NPR station) streams Ogg Vorbis. NPR's coverage is good as the parent commenter said; now you can get it with freedom.
