Windows has always added some kind of protection, it has always been cracked, and only legitimate customers have suffered. Same goes for any other piece of software.
Crackers will remove this and continue to spread Vista as if nothing happened. Only the silly twits that bought Vista are going to end up dealing with this.
Judging from those screenshots he's using Vista, and is complaining about Firefox using up too much memory. Does anyone else find this highly hypocritical?
Here at EBGames the Orange Box is $99, on Steam it is $49, the choice is fairly obvious, if parents wise up, they save money, money makes people wise up, most of the time.
Portal seems to be more of the same, the original Half-Life already proved that storytelling is important to a game, as it seemingly obviously should be. Portal did nothing Half-Life hasn't already done, in terms of story telling, it seems to me Half-Life has always played more like an interactive movie rather than simply a shoot'em'up game.
Valve has put a lot of emphasis on storytelling and in game character involvement from the very beginning, if they have only picked up on this from Portal then they're a tad slow in their realisations.
If Microsoft doesn't send a representative to claim their 2500-Euro prize at the FFII General Assembly in November, FFII will give the money to Peruvian earthquake relief.
Yes, yes I do. His so called "description" has no valid examples, no references of any kind and no comparison to other programs, I doubt he even knows Blender well enough to compare in the first place. Yes, I question his mentality because if his idea of Blender's difficulty are not exaggerations but his actual truthful thoughts on the matter then in my honest opinion he has other issues to worry about regarding his own self.
I tried. I really, really tried. I grabbed the tutorials, FAQ's. I bought "The Official Blender guide". I even had a "Blender Guru" come on to my system in VNC to walk me through the (allegedly) simple process of opening a file, applying textures, and exporting using the plugin. it took 3 flipping hours.
Blender may be a great engine. But the interface is a crime against logic, nature and makes me revise my opinion on whether or not true Evil exists.
If you are thinking of getting into 3D software in some way, as a career or a hobby, keep this in mind: If you waste your time learning the Blender interface, you will not be able to use that "knowledge" with ANY OTHER APPLICATION.
Sir, I regret to inform you that you are nothing but a troll, if you had that much of a hard time with Blender there is something else going on here than Blender's UI, I do indeed believe you have issues regarding mental capacity for learning, Blender was unfortunately not made for your kind. I'm sorry.
Great, you have an opinion, you have been modded "Insightful" by a bunch of people that think like you. I believe you are talking completely out of your ass. If you truly believe Blender's UI is that horrible, perhaps you haven't used programs like 3DsMax, also Lightwave's UI very closely resembles Blender's in a lot of ways, by saying it's better, you are obviously just trolling.
I love Blender's interface, I also like Maya's interface. Your opinion is completely and utterly worthless. You have no backup statements, you have no examples, go troll somewhere else.
Why tell them to stop, not that it matters, Microsoft will figure it out themselves. If Microsoft crashes because of Vista, that would be a good thing, it would mean they would have to start caring about the customer again to get anywhere, and compete with other products instead of relying fully on their monopoly.
I doubt it will be long before mobiles can take on these "heavy weight" websites, so lets just wait a year, and then everyone will be happy and these workarounds will be meaningless.
I've always had a feeling that Microsoft was run by a bunch of dim wits, more so since Bill left the building, and that is exactly why Microsoft, and other companies/organisations with similar leadership, will fail, no matter how big they are. To keep people locked into using your products, keep control of the market and destroy opposition, it takes a hell of a lot more than just a lot of money, in fact, it is most definitely harder to manage power this way in the long run than providing good services and products.
With the way Microsoft is going, it will either be forced to get back into the game by putting the customer first, or it will crumble.
Reading that article it's obvious to me that the guy is nothing but a salesman. Unfortunately, it's not enough to be good at selling something when the product is crap, because word spreads, and people do remember not to come back.
If you look at those usage statistics, Firefox is only a fragment below IE6, and quite a bit above IE7. Of course, I have no way of knowing how accurate these are, but I tend to trust W3 content.
So, when they say that IE "still" has over 60% of the "market share", why does that matter? Usage statistics are the only ones any web developer should care about, I have IE installed, because it came with Windows, so I'm assuming that my IE is part of those market share statistics, but I do all my browsing with Firefox, so as far as I can see, this is useless information. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Is for Adobe to release Flash under Linux, and not the player, I'm talking about the editing/actionscripting suit, I don't care about another "flash killer" or another plugin for the browser, I want better tools for content creation under Linux, if Microsoft can provide this, hopefully it will make Adobe do the same, the way I see it, the only reason this _could_ be good, is if it pushes Adobe to get better Linux support, Microsoft's products generally suck, so I'm not expecting much from them, but if it makes Adobe get off its collective overfed ass and get back into making products instead of raking in the money, then I say awesome. Of course, I doubt this will happen, but one can dream....
I call this story most probably mostly or completely bullshit .
Even if there is some truth to this, there's something else going on in the background, I seriously doubt any self-respecting monk would bother suing over some online comment. It doesn't make sense to me.
A report produced last year by web monitoring company Envisional found the per capita rate of television show piracy in Australia was the highest in the world. It said Australians accounted for 15.6 per cent of all online TV piracy.
I find that part particularly interesting purely because of the idea of pirating TV shows, how, exactly, do you pirate TV shows? Watching them on TV is a free service, you have also been able to record from the TV for a very long time, what exactly is the difference between recording from the TV, and downloading the show from the net, and how does that effect the broadcasting industry?
It's quite possible that they're just waiting for us to stop shooting each other, and act like a single species for once. Which is when we'll be allowed to make contact.
Out of all the different possibilities of why we haven't made contact, I tend to think it's not that intelligent life doesn't exist, or that they don't care about us, I think it's that they do care, and that's why they're leaving us alone. It's akin to us protecting the animals of this planet, so they can continue to exist and spread. It's quite possible we're under protection also, until we can fend for ourselves.
But from a litigator's perspective, the interesting point is that it keeps a lot more information--and more detailed information--about what a person does with a PC.
Microsoft is reading this article and thinking "Heh, interesting side effect..." when later questioned their response will be "Yes, we meant that."
Also one would think that one of the ways to make an OS, or anything for that matter, secure, is to not only plug possible breach points from the outside, but also not to keep detailed information on the computer in the first place. When you do it, you do it by choice, if keeping information about you is in-built into the OS, then where is the choice? Can this be turned off? (Other than hacks)
Vista is proving time and time again that it's a ridiculously stupid OS choice for any user, it's as if Microsoft is trying their best to screw themselves. Is it stupidity or is there some kind of master plan at work here that isn't clearly visible....
Following on....
That said, not being able to remember your home phone number, or the birthday of someone close to you is actually a problem, but probably has nothing to do with the gadgets themselves, but more about the poor upbringing of the person in question, and their education.
The amount of information that people need to remember on a day to day basis has also grown quite a bit. So as to not be overwhelmed it's fine to keep devices to remind us of things, in fact they were created because of the rise in information in the first place.
Of course it wasn't deliberate! Destroying evidence is standard procedure.

They just don't learn.Judging from those screenshots he's using Vista, and is complaining about Firefox using up too much memory. Does anyone else find this highly hypocritical?
Until there is support for Firefox, Mac, Linux etc...

Now they're going to have to go and claim it.

Strange, I've used Max as well, and I feel the same way about Max as you do about Blender... I wonder why that is.

Let them burn.
I doubt it will be long before mobiles can take on these "heavy weight" websites, so lets just wait a year, and then everyone will be happy and these workarounds will be meaningless.
That's good, I was worried for a second that they did, hope they don't keep sheep around as backup.

Well of course, isn't that when the world ends.
In the not-so-distant future, "Microsoft" will be that sales guy who floats to your door on a lazy Monday afternoon, selling copies of "Amazing Word".
After you've fought him off with a broom-bot, you will go back inside your house to be greeted with a "Welcome back, can Ubuntu offer you a drink?"
Just when you sit down on the couch with your healthy fruit juice, that other sales guy comes knocking, selling Mac parts.
