Yes, but my original point still stands. If you don't agree to the GPL, then you still have noone to sue or blame if the software fails. If you do agree to the GPL, all liability is waived anyway. This is still no diferent to a standard "closed" product EULA.

OSS can be the answer to all of these problems of course. Thats the obvious answer. The problem is of course that

    a) The general software buying (Licensing, sorry) public have to be aware of the restrictions being placed on them by companies such as Microsoft

    b) The public have to be made aware of free and open source software as an alternative

    c) The alternative software has to offer the same or better features that the propriatry software (With it's restrictive licencse) offers

I think a) is becoming clearer every day, as Micrsoft and the other softies extend these types of licencsing and software distribution. b) is also not as much a problem as it used to be, with more and more people aware of, if not actually using, open source software such as Linux and *BSD. c) is something that the Gnome & KDE teams are working very hard on (KOffice, for example).

Now all we need to do is bring them all together, and shout about it.

Capitalism makes life great for those who can afford health care, those who can afford a decent education, those that have the skills to make money. When KDE was started, and the decision to use Qt was made, surely the KDE team were aware of the QTL? They must have been aware of it's interaction with the GPL, and yet they still chose to use Qt. So, if the QTL is so evil that Debian refuse to use KDE, why did the KDE team still use it?

Because the QTL is so bad (Aparently), how much work would it be to move the whole of KDE over to something like GTK+? I've never coded for either Qt or GTK, but i'm assuming they are similiar enough that it wouldn't require a whole rewrite of KDE to do it? How about writing a Qt wrapper for GTK+?
