But there's nothing really running on this machine. For some lame-assed reason, the load average just reads very high. Right now, it's swinging from 2.65 to 4.99!
Without really looking into it in any detail, I would suspect that a) their algorithm for calculating load sucks rocks and b) people might be connecting to the stream every now and then. (It's a dev box at the moment - no real load yet)
From that same box I mentioned earlier, a somewhat interesting "uname" output:
bash-2.02$ uname -a
Rhapsody stream1 5.6 Kernel Release 5.6: Tue Nov 23 15:07:38 PST 1999; root(rcbuilder):Objects/kernel-187.obj~2/RELEASE_P PC Copyright (c) 1988-1995,1997-1999 Apple Computer, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Power Macintosh
I've been using MacOS X Server here in the office, and I gotta say, it's kinda cool. It's a full on Unix setup, but it just kind of feels like a Mac...
Bash is the default shell, and it comes with vi - but not a terribly huge selection of other goodies. Apache is there, as well.
It's proven to be very stable, as the machine has been up for AGES:
"Mr. Diamond called it "laughable" that the Justice
Department, while struggling to assure the public that
Carnivore does not intrude on individuals' privacy,
could not protect the privacy of review-team members."
Umm, "a lot" is two words. ;>
Hey, it's free, works with Solaris/SPARC - what's not to like, if you can use it?
Between this box and the previous 3D display, we should be able to view high-framerate, fully 3D porn like never before!
Now, where do we sign?
I posted at "No Score +1 Bonus" ;>
XShipWars is a highly customizable and massivly multiplayer space gamming system designed for play entirly over the Internet...
Right, that's immigrants - but what about people only here on a temporary visa?
I suspect Babelfish might have issues with contractions like "can't."
Right to the story, correctly translated and without all the fluff around it like ads.
Yep - I suspect he whipped up a quick HTML page and ran it through... Heh.
This isn't a troll. This is a real wish!
"Oder, wenn Sie nicht Deutsch kann, bitte Babelfish benutzen."
It should read, "Oder, wenn Sie Deutsch nicht sprechen koennen, bitte benutzt Babelfish" or similar.
Without really looking into it in any detail, I would suspect that a) their algorithm for calculating load sucks rocks and b) people might be connecting to the stream every now and then. (It's a dev box at the moment - no real load yet)
You would be correct, Tao - others, please READ my post. Thank you.

I don't know, but I like it. It's... Cute.

This isn't a gripe, just an observation. I happen to use the Aqua theme myself, and the blue is getting old... :)
"Mr. Diamond called it "laughable" that the Justice Department, while struggling to assure the public that Carnivore does not intrude on individuals' privacy, could not protect the privacy of review-team members."
"Complicating the Justice Department's effort at damage control was the fact that it failed to hide the identities of review-team members when it posted the research institute's proposal on the Justice Department Web site Tuesday."
Sounds like you're talking about a specific kind of fungi there... ;>
It was about a satellite that was hit by a micro-meteorite that was contaminated with some sort of "alien virus."
Man, what a good movie.
Here we come!
What color does fungi and rust burn?
BTW, I never saw this one get posted:
Give a rest already with your vendetta against DC.
