Except it's not BS. I'm multilingual and follow some main online news publications of different European countries. What the US has witnessed now has been happening in Europe since Russia annexed Crimea. Russian government trolls are flooding discussion forums with pro-Putin and anti NATO / western propaganda, linking to phony stories on Russian news websites for "proof". They try to undermine trust in our democratic institutions spreading all kinds of wild conspiracy theories while accusing others of conspiracy theories when they are called out.
Russia is leading a full-scale propaganda war against the west, trying to change public opinion while funding far-right groups across Europe. They are basically trying to destabilize us. It's no joke:

I guess Russia has recently extended its operations to the US and has been disturbingly successful. The weakest candidate - Trump - became president, and the Duma applauded and cheered:

  4. 1. Thank you
    2. I don't know. Maybe you have a point, but I don't see a reason why the machines scanning the ballots (and I assume counting the votes) couldn't be hacked as well

I don't quite understand why Hillary is so despised in the US. Just because she's from a wealthy family isn't a good reason. Of course she made some mistakes in her career, as most people do, but what do we have there? Mainly the email server thing and the handling of the attack in the Libyan embassy. To me, these are legitimate errors in judgement that are being blown to enormous proportions, whereas Trump for some reason seemed to get away with everything he has ever done and said. It doesn't even compare. Even if I didn't like her, I would have supported her to prevent Trump. There's just too much at stake, like the possibly 4 (I think) supreme court judges to nominate. It's a disaster that this will fall into Trumps hands.

  5. Watch out, something incredible is about to happen. Somebody is going to apologize to you, on the Internet.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be an ass. It's this damned election that has me so worked up. I'm not even American, but I simply can't believe people voted a narcissistic egomaniac with no idea of the world and who boasts about grabbing pussies as the president of the US. I guess the shock still hasn't worn off.

Also, maybe I am being paranoid about all the fake news topic and Russian involvement, but in Europe there is a real, noticeable influence in the comment sections of online journals of professional Russian trolls praising every decision Putin makes and taking ever opportunity to criticize the US and NATO with bogus arguments. It has been going on like this since the annexation of Crimea. I'm convinced there is an underground war declaration of Russia vs. the West:

It's honestly scary stuff. Then I have to think about how the Duma started cheering and clapping when Trump won the presidency. It gave me the chills that they were not just cheering for Trump, but actually at their own "Successful Operation".

Anyhow, this time, let me respectfully disagree. I think the article you quoted on Business Insider might be wrong or misleading, because the way I understood the page that I linked is, that while there are paper ballots, they are being read electronically by a machine with an optical scanner.

  6. Michigan Voting Instructions

All voters in Michigan use optical scan ballots.

Sounds like electronic voting to me. Hope you're enjoying your fake news.

Don't underestimate the power of Russian Intelligence Services. Numerous reports cite Russian hackers are the best in the world and their very president is a former KGB agent.

No worries. Now that Trump is president, he'll confront China with the climate change conspiracy, and once they cave in, things will go back to normal.

  10. It wouldn't surprise me if most fact-checking websites have their roots in the left, because most of the bullshit and fake news are spread by the extremely conservative right. The center right just watches it happen, tolerating it, secretly hoping it will play into their hands while despising it at the same time. The result of that is Trump for president. A president who has created so many obvious lies, its hard to keep up. The right-wing propaganda and anti-truth movement has propelled him.

  11. You have a problem. Your ideology has shifted so far to the right and you are so encrusted in your alternate reality fake news bubble, that you need your own Conservapedia to look shit up because real, down to earth facts that practically all other countries in the world agree with have a liberal bias to you.

Oh, fuck off. Fake news and populism is on the rise, they go hand in hand, and is practically always orchestrated by the extremely conservative right. Be it the Tea Party movement, the Republican party in general, Putin, Trump, Orban or the current polish nationalist government.

90% of the bullshit on the planet comes from them. Be it denial and propaganda against scientific facts such as climate change, conjuring some fake nuclear weapons in Iraq, claiming that all Mexicans are sloths or rapists.

Make a count of FUD spreading websites on the internet and I guarantee you that the vast majority of them are linked with far-right conservatism.

VR is, like gaming, solitary in nature.

Only if you want it to be. There are plenty of multiplayer, even massively multiplayer games around. In fact, you could argue that multiplayer has become the norm.
Also for VR there are many apps and games with social features. Tabletop Simulator for instance, that allows you to play tabletop games such as chess with someone over VR. Or Virtual Desktop, where you can sit in the same virtual room with other people and see what they are doing on their virtual screen. There's lost more.

I guess one of the first thing anyone does is visit their home town. It's really a weird yet fantastic eye opener to explore your home surroundings in VR from a birds perspective.

I tried a few of my favorite spots yesterday evening right after returning from work, like the Alhambra in Spain, and I can't wait to explore further areas. It's really something else "being there" in VR than viewing it in a browser.

Unfortunately my Internet started getting slow at some point and all i was getting was polygon-cities. I guess this is the only VR experience so far limited by your Internet bandwidth.
