    Do I have a paperless office : I wish
    Do I have a laptop or tablet : No a desktop
    Do I have a wireless phone : No a Deskphone

    This is probably true of most office people, and this is the market MS are supposed to sell most to : Win 8 looks to be alien to this market ...?

    XP - Less Stale but useful

    7 - Stable and nearly usable
    8 - Not a desktop ...

    Ask a business user if they want all their email on a external server, and al their documents on an external server, where another company can scan them for keywords to target advertising.,...

    Apple and Google both do this with their Cloud solutions, and no non-PC/Laptop device has anywhere enough storage to be a proper business computer otherwise

    Windows 8 seems to be so tied to Pad/Phone devices that it will be near unusable on a desktop ...

    Microsoft have already done this WinFS - Took 5 years before they mostly abandoned it, although it may be incorporated into server side storage ...?

    Note this had already been implemented in BeOS as the Be File System (took 10 months) ...

    Paris uses CET which is 1 hour ahead of their natural time, and CEST during the summer which is 2 hours ahead

    Note that the Prison population in the USA work in making goods very cheaply for the US market,

    Any idea how much paint is imported into the USA....well 93% of paints sold in the USA are made in prison...

    Abolition of slavery in the USA ... that would be an idea ...

    Importing African people was started by the Spanish as early as the 1560s, the Spanish colonies covered most of what is now the USA, Canada and Mexico ... they were legally Indentured servants, but were slaves in all but name ...

    If employers regularly demand this then people will either,
            stop using Facebook (bad for Facebook)
            be very careful what information they put on facebook (Bad for Facebook)

    Perhaps Facebook should be fighting this ?

    C was widely used because it was well supported on all platforms and had extensive libraries ..
    C++ see above (and the syntax is similar to C)
    Java - See above for cross platform (and the syntax is similar to C/C++)
    JavaScript - See above for Web-browsers (and the syntax is similar to C/C++/Java)
    C# See above (for Windows and some other systems) (and the syntax is similar to C/C++/Java)

    Do you see a pattern here, can I learn a language similar to what I already know, that will be well supported on the platform I am using, and will have all the libraries I will need ...

    Languages that are better in every respect will fall by the wayside if they don't meet these criteria regardless of how much better they are ...

    C and it's descendents are not the universal perfect language that people suppose, they are just popular, and now are just popular because they are near ubiquitous ...

    Red hair can be caused by at least for different genes on MC1R Arg151Cys, Arg160Trp, Asp294His, and Arg142His and possibly others on HCL2

    And all of these are recessive so non-redhaired people can and often do have them too...

    So which are they testing, some of these, a mixture of these ... .. and what against, people without the recessive genes, people with some of the recessive genes ...?

    A team needs to be in one place at least part of the time, formal meetings (or teleconferences) are all very well, but what about the other interaction between team members, how do you allow this with remote workers ...?

    Your Teams can be spread around, but if each team is scattered then it is not longer a team ...

    There were not enough lifeboats because that was standard practice at the time, the thinking was that the lifeboats were not for sitting in awaiting rescue, but for ferrying passengers across to the rescuing ships, along with the rescuing ships lifeboats, not as mad as it sounds, there were 3-4 ships in the area who could have helped, but didn't either because their radio was off, or thought they were too far away ...there was normally a lot of ships in the Atlantic it was very busy ...

    Because of the Titanic it was changed to have enough lifeboat capacity for all aboard, and make the lifeboats survival systems rather than little more than emergency ferries ...

    NoSQL is a terrible name

    SQL = Structured Query Language, but people usually use it to mean an RDBMS (Relational DB) Because most use SQL

    NoSQL = Not SQL, but actually means is not an RDBMS - usually a hash store (or similar)

    Some NoSQL DB's use SQL to query the hash store, some RDBMS's don't use SQL ...

    SQL is like a Sherman Tank, it is safe, robust and can go surprisingly quickly, but can be overwhelmed by hordes of lightly armed soldiers

    NoSQL is more like a cluster of bots, each is low powered and very simple and so cannot do anything very complex, but they can cope with many things at once ..

    Software patents are mostly of the blindingly obvious or "...on a mobile device" "...on a website" kind

    This is the main problem with them, and why so many people are against software patents, lawyers think they are novel ideas, programmers don't, and so everyone ends up with the ability to sue everyone else ...

    An idea that is so un-novel that everyone is already using it should not be patentable ...

    This is on Motorways (restricted Highways with no traffic that can't travel at least 30mph), and major A roads where there are often no pavements (sidewalks) and you would be mad to try and cross since most people treat them as Motorways...

    If something falls of a truck in broad daylight then avoiding it at 70+ mph would be a challenge ...

    Golden Globes : 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association
    Oscars : 6,000 motion picture professionals mostly American
    Grammys : NARAS a U.S. organization of musicians, producers, recording engineers and other recording professionals

    So no bias there then ... amazing that US movies mostly win with the occasional English language movie from elsewhere

    When was the last time a non-english movie won, a horror movie, a bollywood movie (Slumdog was a British/American movie) etc. etc ..

    When are people going to wake up that Oscars are voted for by an Elite cliquey non-elected panel of Hollywood insiders known as the Academy

    They are not reflective of actual success, some of the most popular, and most successful movies did not win, some well know actors and directors have never won ...
