    The two that complain are the tip of the iceberg ...you know you have a problem but do not know the scale of it ...

    Where is Amazon.... It's a global company
    Where are their affiliates ... global
    Where are their customers ... global

    They already pay taxes on what they buy to re-sell they already pay company taxes etc ... they have no physical presence in NY so what are they paying taxes to NY for? what do they get back ... nothing?

    SCO Unix was different from The SCO we know and hate

    Santa Cruz Operation produced a Unix that was fairly popular and stable - sold it's assets to Caldera who renamed themselves SCO and started suing ....

    Xenix was bought by Santa Cruz Operations and folded into SCO Unix before they sold it to Caldera ...

    The Rotting heap was Sco Unix as sold by The SCO Group

    My Myspace profile has nothing about me! even the name is not mine ... the only thing people could work out from it is my taste in music

    I don't use it for "social networking" I use it to find new bands ... unless the adverts are for music I might like they will be ignored....

    I have seen targeted ads - Unfortunately I am not a demographic, I am a person, so the majority do not apply to me ...

    I would prefer no ads, If I have to have them then I would prefer ads the do not apply to me so I can ignore them, if they appear to apply to me then they look tempting (but turn out to be useless 99.9% of the time so annoy me even more!)

    NT/2000/XP has always been a multiuser operating system - True (But many people do not use them as such ...)

    You shouldn't need to be an Admin to install a web browser, word processor etc. for yourself, and NT does not require you to be an admin, BUT almost all installers DO require you to be an admin because they are written badly (i.e. they always install for everyone and never just for you)

    The culture of windows programs is one of a single user system where you always install for all users and are an admin, The Program Files folder is a protected folder for programs for use by all users ,but almost all programs install there by default and so are installing for all users ....

    Vista is [forcibly] getting rid of this culture ... and so eventually we will will end up with a culture similar to that which *nix systems have had for years ...

    I use AJAX frameworks but don't program in JavaScript, I program in other languages that use AJAX frameworks that are programmed in JavaScript and DHTML etc ...

    Bilbo lived quietly in the shire and adopted Frodo ... and that's about it ...outside the shire Sauron and the ringwraiths re-emerged and did very little (because they were weak)

    So either a very dull movie or "make it up" then ...

    Would in vitro meat be energy efficient and not produce greenhouse gases .. probably not!

    This is the hunter gatherer diet

    Meal of mostly meat once a week (after a successful hunt)
    Meal of some meat twice a week (leftovers)
    All bulked out with a range of vegetables/nuts etc...

    Note this is NOT a vegetarian diet but does contain much less meat than any normal westerner eats ...

    Plants can sense damage and react to it ...Fungi can react to damage, some Algae react to damage... all good definitions of sensing pain ... perhaps you better stop eating ..?

    We are Omnivores so we have
      Incisors for cutting/stripping
      Canines for ripping/shredding
      Molars for chewing

    Dogs have larger canines and less molars since they are carnivores

    Sheep have no canines and more molars since they are plant eaters

    The difference is that in Linux the browser runs as you and so can only affect your own files ... (Which you have backed up?) On Windows the browser runs as an elevated user and so can affect much more ...

    If however it can run arbitary x86 code directly all bets are off and operating system security is basically non-existent except at the hardware level ....

    You still have a very large number of downloads ...but then how many of these people would have bought the content they downloaded?

    The industry always complains that they have lost $x million in sales but they do not allow for the fact that the vast majority of the downloaders would never buy what they downloaded?

    The point with hardware is :

    On a Mac the hardware is either made for the Mac or it does not work? But If it is made for the Mac is (usually) work first time easily ...

    On Linux most hardware works unless it is cutting edge (which also may not work on Vista, or XP) or is from a manufacturer who will not open their API or provide a binary driver (slowly getting less common)

    Unfortunately Windows based PDAs and Smartphones are in this category..

    Its the old problem with hardware manufacturers they don't do drivers for Linux because not enough people ask for it, but not enough people ask for it because they don't do drivers for Linux ....

    Macs have the advantage that they only work with limited hardware (and work very well) but this is well known and so not (usually) seen as a problem

    Note you won't be told *what* they were arrested for they just won't be teaching anymore ...

    So if you want to be a teacher don't protest ..If you want to work for the government don't protest .. ... If you want to work for a large company don't protest.. .......

    1.) Explain why their pda will no longer sync with their calendar, mail client, or transfer files
        It won't sync on my MAC or On Vista .... but seems to work fine with Linux?
    2.) Explain why they can't just plugin more than two monitors and just get it to display without editing config files
        Why are you a non-technical user using more than two monitors? This is a technical problem even on Windows?
    3.) Explain why they can't use that one application they NEED for work that only runs on windows.
        Try explaining why they can't run the app they need that only works on a Mac or Only on an AS/400 etc ...
    4.) Explain why they can't play [latest high end game]
        Because it is an XBOX 360/PS3 game that's why ...
    5.) Explain why [latest high end hardware] doesn't work in linux at all.
        It does not work on Vista/Mac etc either ...?
    6.) Explain why their cheap no name printer doesn't work with linux out of the box.
        And it works on Windows? Probably not ....?
    7.) Explain why the pptp linux client is such a pain in the ass to use.
        Why are you using this ... ? Don't you have broadband ...?

    Most of these seem to be trying to say why is it not Windows ... the answer is because it is not Windows but it is much more compatible with Windows than Windows is with anything else including earlier versions of itself ...?
