Yeah, Windows 8 will straight sneak up and fuck you. On my laptop I've started it up to find that updates where applying-- half a fucking hour until I could use my laptop. What if If I was popping it open top start a [presentation? This has happened several times now without notification of any kind.
I think Apple lured Microsoft into rolling out a one-size-fits-all OS as a test monkey by floating rumors about their strategic vision to do the same. IIRC Apple has pulled this before. Now I get visions of Microsoft (Ballmer) grabbing a user's hand and violently forcing them use a touch-screen while screaming "EAT MY APPLE!"
Ahh..my first AMD was a 286-12MHz that always tested at 13.4MHz. That thing was so sweet. Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem, all ran like a dream. [sheds a tear]
Why would any sane person counsel someone to pay taxes? If YOU had 1 billion overseas while staring at the prospect of losing 30% of it to nothing, YOU would not repatriate it either sir. The people keeping the money overseas are just like you, no different, they don't have horns, they are just people. People you whimsically elect to have forcefully separated from their property so it can be drained of its value and swallowed into a black hole of wastefulness. As you may have guessed, you make me sick.
Why would anyone despise Amazon? Seriously, is it the fast shipping, amazing customer service, prices that are 20% lower than Wal-Mart, ability to compare items, read reviews, buy books for $4 on just about any subject? Please, let us know the evil Amazon has done you.
For example, if you have 100 full time employees now, you can save $140k (which is several employees' salaries) by restructuring as a company that has oh, 40 full time employees and maybe 120 half time employees. That game is going to have nasty consequences for the US labor force down the road.
The local community college, which employes many part time people, just initiated phase one of dealing with Obama care. The part-time employees who had 30 - 39 hours all got mandated down to 29.5hours per week, no more. On top of that, a lot of part-time people were adjunct professors who can no longer teach (well, the choice is teach OR work part time) because teaching classes brings them over the 29.5 hours. Some of the adjunct taught a lot of classes which must be reduced due to the week-hours formula.
Taxes are taxes. Every dollar taken from a corporation (35% of corp income) is a dollar taken from everyone who purchases anything from a corporation. Anyone familiar with costing and CP analysis knows this--which I guess, leaves out most of the population since colleges aren't requiring basic accounting for a majority of degrees.
Those are all good points, made better by the use of the word FUCK. However, if we start mapping those wonderful benefits to the amount of money taken from people you quickly learn that too much money is being taken. Government is an implicit problem--one which we deal with because people need a corporation to handle large common problems like roads, military organization, and environmental regulation. The problem arises when the government deals with things outside its charter or starts to concentrate on areas which it does more harm than good while ignoring the areas it is good at. Most of us have bullshit to deal with at work in a for-profit setting, but try working in a government setting and seeing how dysfunctional and EXTREMELY wasteful it is. Most of all the waste, ignoring the dysfunction (implicit problem of government), is so flagrant and rampant that someone coming from a for-profit setting watches in awe and disgust. Add on the dysfunction (corruption) and government (subsidized entity) can only attract people who can survive or stomach such a setting. The nature of this dysfunction exponentially builds (stacks and keeps getting worse) until you have...well....a bigger problem. The problem is that those government entities focus only on their immediate concerns which have nothing to with serving people.
I don't think power plants are economically viable either. If you build a plant to replace another one you will not be able to amortize the cost over a reasonable period of time for it to be a sensical investment. Government regulates prices and therefore must also subsidize new builds.
Admin is just a step up from help desk, hang out too long and it will begin to suck badly. If you fail to increase your skills (most admins) and your ability to add value, then it will start to suck badly after a number of years--it's boring. How many servers can you provision or user accounts can you setup before pulling your fucking hair out? Learn to code, become a professional DBA, or acquire some more skills that makes you valuable, like perhaps getting involved with business intelligence. Admins are a commodity. Yes, it is easy to hang out and collect a paycheck, but don't whine when your value wanes and people direct you around like a monkey boy.
Yeah, I crossed paths with numerous people who had inherited fortunes and smoked it in a crack pipe--some every last cent. Kids who grew into adults and continued their habits. In fact, 90% of the crack addicts I have ever known personally were very rich.
That's why they invented the neat system whereby the poor people pay for a police force and judicial system that prevents them from accessing the wealth of the rich. Although this has become somewhat obscured, the net result reflects this reality. The "poor" are really just people who are too stupid or lazy to affect their lot amidst the system in which society has settled. They call it "consent of the governed."
Looking for something that isn't there. Women are and always have been large contributors to the tech world. They just normally operate behind the scenes--on the same hand most men operate behind the scenes.
Windows Key + Tab, it's better.
Yeah, like Windows 8 has no windows. Anyone notice that?

Windows 7 64bit is a great OS, blows XP out of the water. On a decent machine Windows 7 64bit is much faster.

GASP! Still using an iPhone 3GS!?
Hold on, the Ferrari will enhance my social life whereas the SSD will not.

Personally, I like the publicly built toll roads better, so yeah, I think we can agree on this point.

Yep, after 2Billion is spent you HAVE to find something!

You ever seen a geek on a date? They don't know the difference between funny and obnoxious. Now we have documented proof.
Indeed, slavery is a not a philosophical idea, it is purely an economic endeavor.
