"Now I wish Trump well in this; he may not be the person I'd want across the negotiating table from Xi Jinping, but Kim Jong Un"
For as crazy as Trump seems he is 100% American and a self-serving negotiator...he is the only person I would really want sitting across the table from xi.
It is not about hating him it is contempt for the fact that some beat down Americans stumbled to their feet, and using their on good arm, took a baseball bat to the communist one-government world agenda. All those secret/special meetings they were all attending (if invited) to plan the policies of the world just got smacked down by a few decades. They thought they had this shit sewed up.
Yeah, the CFL movement was resisted because they cost a fortune and some have been saddled with a bill for a hazmat crew after it was discovered one had broken...throwing mercury dust all over the place. I Dropped my first LED bulb while installing it from 8 ft in the air. It bounced around like an amazing toy and has worked fine since. Light output is way better as well as is the heat reduced.
Plus the spawn of the gig-economy is way too entrepreneurial for the comfort level of our government communist overlords. The last thing they need are people tasting freedom.
Working for Uber is enough to get subsidies (welfare).
Any job they take is going to suck...Uber sucks less since they can bug off whenever they want. In a restaurant/retail you are tied down for many hours a day (opportunity time wasted) and cannot leave the premises.
You can't save but you can buy $200 worth of soda each month with tax dollars. Getting an $800 food stamp allotment also makes it easier to pay for a $120 cable bill. Both of these are standard home expenses for welfare recipients. Most of the time they also have an unreported income living in the house as well (boyfriend).
They brought this on themselves by using investor money to lowball prices while allowing airports and other entities to take a 40% cut of the fares. I know in LA that drivers make almost no money unless they get a 1-2 hour trip from LAX. They lose money if they have to take someone downtown from the air port. I question why people are agreeing to work for that rate. They literally get $2-3 for waiting in line to drive someone downtown from LAX. I tipped my last driver $150 for driving me from Pasadena. Others have to be tipping as well or this just wouldn't work.
This is like Carl Jr getting upset because they are under contract with a french fry manufacturer but everyone starts avoiding the fries when they eat there. Now they have a problem. They can't stop buying french fries and they are under contract to buy a certain amount but demand has significantly shifted. Instead of making the hard choices they beat around the bush trying different promotions and gimmicks eventually begging people to take the fries for free with their meals. Because they are so steeped in the tradition of offering fries they can't see any other way out. Fat. Happy. Dumb.
Hopefully the management at these cable companies are inspired by the challenge of their business drastically changing underneath them. Flailing about trying to force shit on people because that has been your tool of choice for generations is just lame, pathetic, and weak. They need to start shedding their old contracts and business practices. If you are going to experience a change in your business you should do it gracefully. Why does everyone try so hard to cling on?
When the business model dies you don't just get to raise prices to make up for it...unless you are the only game in town. The business model is becoming: Unlimited internet, $50 a month.
You forgot to mention the highly offensive programming and commercials. A lot of people have gotten used to it by now as they have slowly boiled the frog but there is no denying that after you cut the cord you never have to worry about that shite popping onto your screen again. It isn't the money so much as once you get there it is really bad programming most of the time.
Good point. The industry is probably a lot like IT where there is an ingrained behavioral norm that requires management to sit all the guys down for a discussion be doing before introducing an unknown female into the environment.
I can barely stand IT, and it is my passion. No fucking clue what would attract anyone, let alone women, to this industry. Most people in IT would have been janitors or security guards, or that guys that moves materials around the construction site (gumby, packer) had they not won the lottery and stumbled into the wonderful world of Windows support and administration.
Thankfully, at those times where I have resolved myself as the blame, I bump into someone who knows what the fuck they are doing and I am reminded that there is hope.
Goats are like mushrooms, if you shoot a duck I'm afraid of toasters.
"Crossing the US border is dangerous."
They heard you have to climb a wall.

...most of the gnashing of teeth is performed bu the useful idiots.

True story. Had no idea how big of a deal toilets are in Cali. Workmates are all buying like $1500 toilets...while I balk at $300.

If someone is making $10 an hour they need to be bringing in at least $30 an hour.
I keep hearing that positions go unfilled and "it is so hard to find people." Keep bumping up the pay...problem goes away.

Agreed. Both parties are leftist at this point.

It is not free.

What are we going to do for Mars, the moon? How will internet aliens know how to access the right web pages and target the correct email address?
[gets defeated a few days later]
That is not a bad idea. Auctioning off politicians. It is sort of how it works now but this would seem to democratize it a bit more.
"france.mom should be surrendered"
compelling....
Google what? Sounds like another irrelevant, about-to-be-cancelled product.
