Except, don't most PC games cost $45+ by themselfs when they are first released? So you are not only getting TF2, Portal and Ep2, but also HL2 and Ep1 for the same price. I think this is a pretty reasonable price. Portal will be short, but the mod and custom map potentials are huge.
I think it gives you enough of a picture to make you curious enough to go online and figure out what the orange box is all about, which was their goal. They did an amazing job with doing that for Portal. Not to mention, they have a big enough following for half life that I'm sure word of mouth did enough alone. Considering the box has already gone gold.
It's not stealing if something was never taken. It was duplicated.
Laws need to be updated.
I'd like to know what all proof they had they she indeed made it available. Did they even try to access this music? What proof did they have of that? Did they use illegal methods to gain her information?
OR if they are anything like Staples, we just ship them to certain stores spread out through the Country that are authorized to do HP/Acer/etc repairs. Unless of course it's totally fucked, then we send it to the manufacturer themselfs.
Mind you, we will accept linux machines, but probably throw windows back on after repairs.
The sad thing is you are correct. Even though it tells you, make a recovery disk you will need it most don't. I'm a tech for a big chain store and most people don't do it and then when their hard drive dies they ask what a recovery disk is.
And it's not a lie that it will cost more to order the disks from the manufacturer. HP and others charge $60 for them, I've had to order them for store stock where the computer died before a disk was made, or it was returned without the recovery partition. We make the disks for $20, which is for time (it can take 2 hours to make HP disks) and the disks.
I still think it's ridiculous that they don't provide the disk, but that's how it goes.
i really wish they had done trend.
i want to see one of these for windows based ones.
i always recommend kasperky, CA and trend. while i'm shocked that norton caught them all, it still doesn't change my stance on their crappy products. they don't allow control to the end user. you can't disable or change any settings without it bitching constantly until you turn it back on. it's bulky, it's the most targeted and you can turn it off if you want to.

This reminds me of the word filter in Raganarok. The did a poor job of it because any word that had a swear word in it was filters.
You couldn't say japanese because it had jap in it.
You couldn't say cucumber because it had cum in it.
They are only an issue because users are stupid.
I can run windows xp or vista without any antivirus software or antispyware or even a firewall.
I'm not stupid, I don't click the ecards that make you download.exes then run them.
The problem with windows is that it has the most users, and most of them know nothing about computers and end up running the viruses by themselfs.
Macs have quite a few unpacthed vulnerabilities aswell. They all have their flaws.
Mac fans argue that there system is better, when it's just an over simplyfed OS. Windows has so many stupid people using it, it has a bad rep.
If you want something decent use linux.
I'm tired of this constant battle, if you don't know what you are doing you can have problems with both. There is a reason this site exists http://www.macfixitforums.com/postlist.php?Cat=&Bo ard=Forum35. All the "this stopped working after an update" threads shows.
Both OS will crash, both have hardware problems (iPod(not a macbook but still) with the triangle and exclamation mark which will cost Apple $200 to fix for a customer somehow). Crashes that everyone bitches about on windows, but when a program crashes on apple people just ignore it.
Neither one is great, but my PC when it's on windows never crashes, never shuts down, doesn't have any viruses, runs how I want it and can do EVERYTHING your macs can do. I'm not saying it's better, it works for me.
This constant poiting out which is better is useless.
ph4s3 has it right. If the tables were turned, you'd be screwed out of the money.
While it's wrong to abuse the machine (not playing and cashing out) why the hell wasn't that machine tested properly?
It's the Casino's fault and no one should be charged. When something depenses money, somone should make sure it's working perfectly.
Besides they will make the money up in no time.
I'd rather pay the actual artists then the record labels who get most of the money.
Download the music and if you like it, buy the album, go to a concert or buy some other stuff from them. Or better yet, download the songs you like off of iTunes, so the musicians actually get the money.
http://isohunt.com/ has been attacked by MPAA/RIAA for a while. They have no problem working with the MPAA/RIAA so that the artists get money. However, they refuse to work with them because they (and the record labels) won't make as much money off of it.
I'm not saying piracy is right, but the whole thing is screwed now because the other side is greedy.
you can't fix stupid.
The biggest bug in Windows is between the chair and keyboard. The item in question is gullable, has admin privilages, and can run widely dispensed Windows specific code.
Part of the problem is that the U.S. fails to understand that it's laws do not apply everywhere. This is epsecially true for the RIAA/MPAA.
Though you are right in that if he burns a copy for a friend, it's not him using it. However, there are problems on both side of the fence. Pirates and the Anti-Pirates, which causes more problems for everyone else.

The average user is also very stupid and should not have a computer. I doubt they even understand what the patching does.
Also, if you take a look at the comments on their page, you'll notice how people are correcting this guy. He's just anti microsoft like most people.

I have Safari install, but I can't stand it.
To be fair though, I don't use Firefox either, though it is also installed. Opera is still the best browser out there.
He's right, if it wasn't for porn, we'd have no need for such fast internet connections.

I agree with you, but when you put it that way, it wouldn't be "news" so. Plus, I can justified my so called "wasted time".

I love how Staples.ca has macs for 1,200 and they don't even come with a DVD burner. You can get much better systems for 1000 there with Vista.

you don't have to be a techno wiz to fight against the RIAA. just need some money to fight them with.
i'm suprised they have gotten away with all this shit for so long.
