  1. Re:Valve to its customers: on Orange Box In Stores Wednesday · · Score: 1

Except, don't most PC games cost $45+ by themselfs when they are first released? So you are not only getting TF2, Portal and Ep2, but also HL2 and Ep1 for the same price. I think this is a pretty reasonable price. Portal will be short, but the mod and custom map potentials are huge.

  2. Re:Cohesive? on Orange Box In Stores Wednesday · · Score: 1

I think it gives you enough of a picture to make you curious enough to go online and figure out what the orange box is all about, which was their goal. They did an amazing job with doing that for Portal. Not to mention, they have a big enough following for half life that I'm sure word of mouth did enough alone. Considering the box has already gone gold.

OR if they are anything like Staples, we just ship them to certain stores spread out through the Country that are authorized to do HP/Acer/etc repairs. The sad thing is you are correct. Even though it tells you, make a recovery disk you will need it most don't. I'm a tech for a big chain store and most people don't do it and then when their hard drive dies they ask what a recovery disk is. And it's not a lie that it will cost more to order the disks from the manufacturer. HP and others charge $60 for them, I've had to order them for store stock where the computer died before a disk was made, or it was returned without the recovery partition. We make the disks for $20, which is for time (it can take 2 hours to make HP disks) and the disks. I still think it's ridiculous that they don't provide the disk, but that's how it goes.

They are only an issue because users are stupid. I can run windows xp or vista without any antivirus software or antispyware or even a firewall. I'm not stupid, I don't click the ecards that make you download .exes then run them. The problem with windows is that it has the most users, and most of them know nothing about computers and end up running the viruses by themselfs. Macs have quite a few unpacthed vulnerabilities aswell. They all have their flaws.

Mac fans argue that there system is better, when it's just an over simplyfed OS. Windows has so many stupid people using it, it has a bad rep.

If you want something decent use linux.

I'm tired of this constant battle, if you don't know what you are doing you can have problems with both. There is a reason this site exists http://www.macfixitforums.com/postlist.php?Cat=&Bo ard=Forum35. All the "this stopped working after an update" threads shows.

Both OS will crash, both have hardware problems (iPod(not a macbook but still) with the triangle and exclamation mark which will cost Apple $200 to fix for a customer somehow). Crashes that everyone bitches about on windows, but when a program crashes on apple people just ignore it.

Neither one is great, but my PC when it's on windows never crashes, never shuts down, doesn't have any viruses, runs how I want it and can do EVERYTHING your macs can do. I'm not saying it's better, it works for me.

This constant poiting out which is better is useless.

I'd rather pay the actual artists then the record labels who get most of the money. Download the music and if you like it, buy the album, go to a concert or buy some other stuff from them. Or better yet, download the songs you like off of iTunes, so the musicians actually get the money. http://isohunt.com/ has been attacked by MPAA/RIAA for a while. They have no problem working with the MPAA/RIAA so that the artists get money. However, they refuse to work with them because they (and the record labels) won't make as much money off of it. I'm not saying piracy is right, but the whole thing is screwed now because the other side is greedy.
