I have been an IT manager in a bank and I do not agree with you. OS selection is not just a technical matter.

Those who have selected proprietary OS will replace it with another proprietary one. If they intend to use open source they will more likely to choose the most popular one.

We were using HP-UX and Solaris. When we decided to use an open source OS for a particular server farm we selected Linux because that selection is less dangerous politically (it matches the consensus) and Linux market is more diverse and more supported.

One of the major searches people do is to search for their name.

My name is almost specific and 99% of the searches actually about me. google provides 5000 entries while Bing shows only 150 items.

I was hoping that Bing can provide an alternative to Google and gave it more than a few trials. However it disappointed me. I could not even find my own conference papers and articles on Bing. On Google, the first entry points to my homepage while Bing used to show a very old mailing list email of mine (which strangely belongs to 1998 !!!)

Another example is my favorite website. Google has indexed 5 million pages on that site while Bing has only indexed 10,000 pages!!. Obviously the index size of Google is much much bigger.

How I am supposed to use Bing when I am sure it does not list 90-95% of the search results 9in comparison to Google).

I myself went back to university to become a scientist because I could not bear politics in business environments. I went to academics because I thought there is more ethics there.

Now about Chinese. They have conquered scientific journals as editors and reviewers. Now they invent theories (sometimes false, sometimes terrible in quality) and they send those craps to conquered journals.
