Currently there is no copy and paste for example. How do you do it with just a touch screen ui? I suggest the same way windows mobile handles it, you just hold your stylus (finger) down for a couple of seconds and a small menu pops up like a right click.

And saying the iphone is $400 and an N95 is $800 isnt exactly fair... The N95 is about $600 unlocked, the iphone is $400 and comes with a nasty 24 month at&t contract which you cant ignore, unlocking aside. (That removes a few of the main features anyway from what i understand.)
The N95 I had(have) is plagued with problems, I know others that havent had a single issue, although problems seem to be quite prevailent. My comparison is assuming you get a good one and not a lemon.
In an objective comparison marketing and brand awareness dont come into it, thats all irrelivant. Marketing shouldnt be a consideration to someone weighing up two devices. I dont think its a failing of microsoft as anyone looking for such a device can easily find the exact and technical facts regarding a windows mobile device, as opposed to the marketing double talk apple surrounds the iphone with.
If youd like a reason to hate apple's marketing machine I remember a while ago I wanted to download X11 for osx, on the apple site where the download was located it boldly proclaimed "This one goes to 11!" I bet that made you shudder. They then proceeded to act as if it was an apple product. How ignorant do they think someone with a reason to download x11 is? I just wish apple wouldnt treat me like a child, im not interested in how many ways you can tell me it has "High definition graphics", I want to know what f*cking graphics card it has! Apart from mac-specific features (which affect some 2% of the population) you didnt list anything there that my n95 didnt have. as far as non apple-specific features you listed, every windows mobile device iv had has had a virtual keyboard, thats been pretty standard since about 2000. My n95 had a virtual keyboard. It also had a fulyl featured browser, every device iv had for the past 4 or so years has, granted most have been windows mobile devices. Iv been using actual non-mobile internet since my HTC XDA2. also as far as viewing space, my previous HTC universal had a 640x480 screen, so much more viewing space. Every windows mobile device iv had including my N95 automatically synced photos my pc. not to mention the 5-megapixel camera.
I dont know what visual voicemail is, i live in australia which is even more backwards in terms of mobiles than the us, so il have to give you that, also i agree the touch screen is a good interface. personally i prefer buttons, but thats just me.

I'm actually about to try that now. I just bought a vaio ux, one of those tiny ones with the 4.5 inch screen. the battery it came with is completely dead and doesnt work at all. The store I bought it from cannot get a replacement in stock. The sony support line I called couldnt seem to get their head around that and told me to go there again anyway. So now im going to sonystyle in sydney to see if I can get something done. I've got my gloves on and I'm all ready to start pushing boulders up a hill.
Its funny when I think about it that im not really even pissed about getting a faulty battery with a uMpc, I've kind of just accepted it as part of purchasing a sony product.
Also made me think perhaps this will have such a great positive impact on education in the third world that people in the west will rethink our archaic education systems, which only instill and encourage poor social behaviour where this seems to do the opposite.

That may be true in a lot of cases, but i dont think its the only thing at work. for example, the stories of mozart playing for the queen when he was 3 years old. I find it hard to believe any normal 3 year old could develop that kind of musical ability no matter how much they enjoy it.

Because re-encoding 1TB of xvid into h.264 would take a loooong time, especially when you have to work out different settings to preserve full quality for every type of file. And besides, re encoding it isnt going to add more quality to whats already there...
Oh wait i just rememebered, I have all originally purchesed DVDs, even the for the shows they never released, so... yeah.
seriously this could actually be a fantastic use for dead bodies after they die instead of the old cremation or clog up the ground with your corpse. Its certainly the most environmentally friendly way. Im not sure how many tons of corpse we dispose of every year but its got to be a lot. Or do we have some nasty bacteria or something that would screw up the system?
I used to play board games as a kid, but i found growing up they couldnt compete with teh depth, strategy and fun computer games offered. Iv gone into stores a couple of times to find some kind of a board game where you can -play against someone over a long term period of time that has a lot of strategy and depth, but all i find are games that say ana average game lasts for a couple of hours. I think it owuld be cool to have a game that you could play over the course of several days or even weeks, whenever you feel the urge. The most likely thing would be a war game of some sort with shifting front lines etc. Kind of like generals do on their map tables with little figurines.
Does anyone know of a game like this?
Is this similar to warhammer? iv never tried warhammer because painting little figures and buying extra parts doesnt really appeal to me, seems kind of childish and the people i have seen playing in games workshop seem a little too geeky... and im a geek. or nerd, or whatever. Id prefer something where buying new parts doesnt give you an advantage.
