    To be fair, Augustine did change his mind on the matter, but there was that Jewish fellow who thought otherwise prior to the 4th century. Can't remember his name though. I'd have to google it.

    Hmmm... As I understand biblical theology, all humans deserve to go to hell, but some are given grace to go elsewhere(depending on your theology this may involve a choice). I suppose a departure from the sacred book is in keeping with the times.

    On topic: What's wrong with American Christians? The ones outside America I know are so much more sane.

    Seriously, the noise canceling properties of twisted pair aren't magic. Shielding helps a lot. Google will answer you here.

    I also have a chip and pin, but it is interesting to note that most places here in South Africa will fall back to the magnetic strip if the chip doesn't read properly. The magnetic strip should go altogether. It is a horrible technology.

    As AC pointed out, the magnetic strip can be copied... Very easily. I know someone who this happened to. Once they have that, they as good as have your pin, which is why your card should never ever leave your line of sight. Copying the key is as fast as swiping the card.

    In my considered opinion, the "greatest democracy" should consist of more than two giant political parties fighting it out. But hey, it's better than some places in Africa, where there is only one. Marginally. From outside I struggle to tell the difference between democrats and republicans...

    Actually, he does have a point, humorous as it is. Atheism has a very strong "evangelical" side. [Citation: Slashdot as a whole]... Anyone who has any other point of view is attacked by an evangelist, while the more reasonable, logical atheists appear to have learned to hold their peace. I have seen bhuddists, christians, mulisms and even mere agnostics attacked here. I think it is a sign of maturity within any philosophy when you can learn when to be silent.

    Flat out my 1.8l Elantra does 30-40l to 100km, which translates to a range of around 110-200km - roughly comparable. Also, they lied about the top speed in the advertising blurb. More precise numbers are unavailable, since under those conditions I don't trust the l/100km measurement.

    I love how the climate debate causes people to start insulting each other. As if this might change someone's mind instead of causing them to fight even harder for their POV and achieving the opposite of the desired outcome. Your observation is correct. Your delivery removes it's force. Why argue at all if it just makes things worse?

    Yes, she is wrong, but your post adds little to the discussion. I suppose the flame would have to be closer, but then a cutting torch is cheaper. Perhaps it has to do with the distance between the operator and the radioactive stuff.

    Not everything they do will benefit the mainline. I suspect there are some gaming optimizations you can make which will slow other workloads. However, I am sure the package/kernel maintainers will be able to incorporate what is useful and discard what is not.

    You're an idiot. Understanding older technology can help you understand newer technology and learning to interact with people will help them way more than learning to interact with the latest technolology. They'll pick it up really quickly when they're a bit older. I like this idea. I think when I have kids they'll get to start with a ZX81, and move up when they master it...

    Make the condom intelligent enough to pretend to be a phone, on one side and a charger on the other with no connection in between. I can't believe I just typed that sentence... Anyhow, I am sure you can get PICs with dual USB which would do that.
