Soon we have machines bitching about our eating, drinking, oversleeping, computing.. And those machines are controlled by corporations and run "without costs" with advertising. Advertising that MAKES you go out and buy. Oh I cant wait!

XML definitely has lots of overhead and not needed bytes. However, it is easily expandable, easily readable (by human too) and can support lots of different kind of needs. Because XMPP is meant to be the universal IM protocol, it needs to be easily expandable. Normal, byte based protocols are harder to expand for all kinds of needs and you have to spend more time learning them, all individually.

  8. Good 2D/isometric games to try on Linux Has Better Windows Compatibility Than Vista · · Score: 0

I recently destroyed my graphics card and now i'm running linux with a standard gfx card that doesnt even work with midtown madness. Whats good games to test then? I've always wanted to try Fallout 2 more, but never got around to it because of it aged graphics. Now it probably would be good tho. Should i start with Fallout 1 or Fallout 2 or do you recommend some other games that do not need 3D card?

Does M$ really want this deal, or is it simply a last ditch attempt by Ballmer to survive. I think its mostly an attempt for him to show his power. Now someone send him to here instead. However, it would create really interesting battle with Google. They're both becoming really large competitors now.
  12. Pirate Bay on Microsoft Bids $44.6 Billion For Yahoo · · Score: 5, Funny

Now MS should bid for Pirate Bay aswell!

  13. Re:Protocol? on P2P Remains Dominant Protocol · · Score: 1

and this is the reason many ppl got this article wrong. It wasnt talking about P2P as an protocol, but as a group of protocols versus HTTP. YouTube, which uses http as the video transfer, uses http too and eats 10% of the web traffic. All the P2P traffic mentioned belongs to P2P programs and protocols, not just as single protocol. And this should be clear to you, but maybe its cool to always say something against like the kids ;)
