Except if you're Microsoft, people innovate for you then you bring out your own version (in some cases, actually stealing the innovator's code) and put the innovator out of business.
To be fair to Microsoft though, sometimes it seems that people just don't learn. I'm looking at you, Nokia.
I think you mean "when you own lots and lots of guns". And while what you may say is true for fiat, it arguably wouldn't be if the currency was actually backed by anything (not that I'm arguing for the gold standard).
Weren't all those slot-X processors pretty much just pinless processors soldered to a small PCB? Seems like it could be something of an opportunity to me.
Interesting info from all the repliers. I have no idea where I picked up the wrong info from but it's always good to have incorrect knowledge corrected.
The only valid options there are the homeschooling and distance learning. When you move to get away from these things, they tend to follow you and you've gone to a whole bunch of trouble and expense for nothing.
I believe it's MP3s which have the 2 second pause. The GP's CDs are probably compiled from MP3s. It's probably why I also see messages about "gap information" when I'm transfering MP3s to my ipod with fubar 2000
I've been trying to find out if the internal storage can be upgraded. So far I've drawn a blank which is making me think that it can't (so far). For certain the RAM can't but I could live with that. Not with so little internal storage though.
And yet, at some point, it became so. Microsoft has no excuse for not being right on top of that. They were hampered in large part in trying to bring the windows experience to a form factor that was not suitable for it. Now they appear to be trying to do the same in reverse (assuming that Metro is any good on phone/tablet)
Though the amusing thing is that Microsoft was actually very early to the party. iPhone and Android turned up late and bagged all the hot chicks. Then Microsoft started trying to act cool and smoke and chug whiskey and ended up barfing on its shoes.
Jeez, I curse everytime I come back to my netbook and I left Slashdot open in Firefox.
Microsoft discontinued update support for the hate machine in 2006.

I wish they'd bust the thieves in Washington who are counterfeiting dollars...
(Ooh, a little bit political)
It's a shame they rejected my suggestion. "Your data in someone else's hands" is so much catchier.
Go read some Larry Niven.

Isn't that the previous version though? The teardown shots I saw were here

Which shows a module for storage.

Interesting. Thanks.

It's terrible that cosmopolitan employees get a free ride.
He should change his name to Uzininemillimetre
Could I get a little bread with my circuses, please?
(Though this does sound awesome. Gotta admit)
< 1 day.
Linux fan here. But my Windows 7 boxes will refuse to NTP sync unless the skew is 1 day. It's a bit of a PITA sometimes to be honest.
That's what open standards are for. You can bet Amazon can't erase my tape backup either.
Of course, in the 6.5 seconds between the time I check and I type it in and hit submit...
"Come on, come on, listen to the money talk"

Somebody patent being a slimy weasel already...
