China should be required by who exactly? They are a sovereign nation and make their own laws.
Sure, they can't march into a US datacenter and start carting out servers but they can gather up the company employees within their borders and do unpleasant things to them. That is the heart of the matter.
There is a further step worth taking. by adding a resistor (depends on device), the cable can signal it is a dumb charger, allowing a greater current draw if available.
Yup. I would prefer if companies returned dividends rather than grow into huge behemoths but I understand why they don't (government) and to investors, it usually makes little difference (Though I think if government interference were removed, dividends would provide better value).
Unfortunately, when cyber Monday does come around, between them and the other retailers using their services, they often seem to have insufficient capacity. We frequently were unable to spin up new instances around that period. When you have people sitting around waiting to do work, that quickly starts to eat into any savings.
It can depend. There are reasons that bridges or underpasses cannot be put in some locations but the most likely explanation is that the bridge makers and politicians in Virginia share several of the same relatives.
You woefully underestimate the efforts that vested interests will go to to ensure that money goes into their pockets, I mean hard-working (cough) Americans can keep their jobs.
It is correct but not politic. I don't know who thought it was a good idea. It sets the ground for an "us vs them" mentality which is probably not a bad idea from the employees point of view (many of whom have a fantasy-land vision of the employee/employer relationship and are frequently the most shocked when it comes to the rude awakening) but not from the company's point of view which has an interest in nurturing such delusions.
Concern for you employees is like sincerity. Once you can fake it, you have it made.
But you move your routes around and suddenly there are people who have lost service. Your service is now known as something that can't be relied on so people have to obtain their own vehicles "just in case" and so your service becomes even less popular.
Buses are a losing game and most only really survive through subsidies.
I actually ran across this in one of GRR Martin's books the other day. Very sloppy proofreading. He sometimes writes the accents but this wasn't one of those cases.
Useful info. Thanks.

Though until recently the Xbox required a live account to use netflix (which is why the xbox ended up gathering dust).
Good news... For anyone who lives in a city with coverage and never travels.

Then the hacker simply swaps the hardware for updatable hardware.
Statists are uncivilized barbarians who feel their ideas are so good, they must be applied by force.
Just like it would make no sense to run cable when TV is already provided by satellite or phone lines where there is already mobile coverage.
Oh wait, that stuff happens. Maybe the main reason there aren't multiple last-mile solutions is government interference (as usual)
