  15. Re:CDs are dead on 5GB portable MP3 Player · · Score: 1
    CD's dead? Are you kidding?

CD's outsell every other form of media in existance. They are so cheap, and so popular, that everyone has CD's. It will be 10 years before DVD completely replaces the need for CD.

There is no recordable DVD technology on the market today, and probably won't be for several years. But once it does I'm sure a CD/DVD MP3 player will be created - with the possible capacity of DVD's reaching 17GB it's a whole lot more practical than having a HD built into the unit.

CD's are *much* better than Flash Memory - I've never heard of an MP3 player that has ~600MB of Flash memory. I would never buy a unit with a maximum limit of 64MB. Who would want to listen to the same 10 songs over and over again in a long car ride?

Having the media should be built right into the player is too restrictive. What if I want to trade songs, or bring my mp3's over to a party and play them on a stereo or in a car? I'd have to have adapters ready etc. Once dual CD/mp3's are popular you just need to transport the media.

  16. MamboX will own the portable MP3 market on 5GB portable MP3 Player · · Score: 1
Once MamboX starts shipping it will own the entire market for portable MP3 music - and destroy the market for audio-CD-only portable players.

I don't want to lug around a 5G hard drive. And if I want to put more songs on it, I don't want to hook it up to my computer, waste 20 minutes copying more stuff to it etc. And who the heck would buy a audio CD player, when you can buy an mp3/cd dual player for just a little more.

A CD-based solution is by far the most practical,. I got like 20 mp3 CD's already burned. Once I get my grubby hands an a MamboX I can play them immediately. I can put my cd's in a pack and easily transport 10GB of songs anywhere I go.

It's the perfect solution. I cannot understand why all these companies are putting so much effort into little 32MB players that no-one wants.

It doesn't matter how much profit they make per year, how much market share they really have, how good their actual product is, or how they will last in the long term.

None of it matters because anyone with a significant amount of VA shares (execs, venture capital investors etc) all are a bunch of millionaires right now. Do you really think they care how good a company VA is? The whole point of an IPO is to hype the market into believing that the company is a good investment. As long as you succeed in doing that you've had a successful IPO.

From there they have enough cash (non-liquid mind you) to buy up other companies to make it appear as though they are growing - further reason to keep VA's stock price inflated.

  23. Matrix 2 Plot : Change of scenery will be good on More Info on Matrix Sequels · · Score: 1

As the article mentioned, the sequels are going to deal less with the actual Matrix - and more with The Real World which is obviously a smart idea. Since Neo is a God in the Matrix, it would be pointless to have him fight the Agents or spend all the time showing off all the stuff he can do.

I'm sort of a sucker for the "humans fighting robots" cliche so I don't think they can screw up a Sequel too much as long as they stay out of the Matrix for most of the movie.

    My predictions for the plot:

After Neo Trinity Morpheus and Tank escaped the sentian? robots, they return to Zion and get the real scoop on the state of humanity, very broken and beaten - Zion ain't gonna be a luxury hotel. Neo spurrs some hope into everyone by showing off all the stuff he can do, to which they reply "Whoa" all the time. They probably spend a bit of teasing the robots in the Matrix, who eventually find where Zion is located and a huge war breaks out killing off most of the remaining humans. It will then be up to the remaining crew from the first film to figure out what to do next, like reform the Zion alliance and begin working to take down the Matrix, thus setting up the storyboard for the 3rd film which will probably have to do with ending the AI threat completely and "waking up" humanity.

Or, I could probably be totally offbase...
