uuh mir was not a failure. its been up in orbit around 6-7 years more then they expected it to be + they have done bunch of important experiments on it (for example: they researched how different types of organism reproduce in a weightless conditions, how fire spreads in a space + many other things)
i feel that rh and va linux are only "big" linux companies that are investing back into free software community. i have never seen penguin computing or any other linux companies contributing back to the community.....
he is probably thinking about those 2 ppl who wrote those 2 dumb comments before him as soon as someone writes "does it run linux?" or "can we run beowulf" it gets moderated up as funny. those comments should be moderated down as offtopic and not up.
if i remember right, last slashdot poll showed that most used gnu/linux distro (among slashdot readers at least) was debian, suse was second and rh was third.

monarchies dont have presidents they have kings and queens, offcourse in most of the today modern monarchies they dont have any real power. power is in parliement or govermants hands.
>How can an old 6809 based machine like the Amiga possibly compete with modern multi-tasking architectures like the PC ?
they are not releasing same hardware as in 1980-ies, they are using new generations of motherboards, cpu's.... > Or with blindingly fast 3d accelerators such as DirectX ? uuh, directX is not 3d accelerator, its a microsofts library for 3d gfx. you can play bunch of 3d games in gnu/linux without directX
on everything else i agree with you. i am afraid that this is just vaporware , like most of the other stuff amiga inc. announced during last 2-3 years
they have or are already porting most of their stuff, jbuilder, visibroker and their database (dont remember its name) has already been ported and they are currently porting delphi and c builder
