    ESA doesnt have anything to do with EU. There are countries which are members of ESA but not members of EU (Norway, Swiss) and there are countries who are EU members but not ESA members (Greece).

    Second, Canada has agreement with ESA which makes Canada "cooperating state" so you dont have to be in Europe to be coperating state.

    on windows, trillian is okay too. it can handle irc, aim, icq and msn. its free too (not as speech through). it even supports encrypted communication.

    uuh you dont have to be 234807123489012347. you can choose whatever name you want. so there can be 100 jims, but each one will have its unique id.

    i am kinda surprised that they didnt port it earlier, after all now that macos is an unix, porting matlab probably didnt require more than recompilation of their existing unix matlab source.

    yeah but back than amd had probably something like 5-6% of the market while intel had probably over 85% of the market. AMD had to be compatible with intel to survive.

    its highly unlikely that market leader intel would switch to competitors architecture.

    memory of flooding probably comes from black sea flooding. when water broke through bosphorus (5600 bce), over 60,000 square miles of land around black sea shores where flooded.

    not in sweden. xbox costs around 5000 skr (10,2 skr == 1$) while ps2 costs 3200skr, gamecube is going to cost 2900 (released 1may).

    darwin is kernel that macosX uses and yes it will run on x86 hardware BUT operating system is more than just kernel.

    thus darwin != macosX

    how much more expensive is mac hardware when compared to pc? 5% , 10% & 50%?

    i have some thoughts about buying mac next time i buy new computer. 5-10% more expensive is what i could afford to pay but i'm not willing to pay 50% more.....

    reasons that they are starting with germany is that e-plus (which is starting with imode in germany) is owned by dutch kpn which is 25% (not sure about right percentage) owned by ntt docomo. that way ntt docomo is indirectly trying to introduce imode into europe without any major investment in infrastructure

    i think i have figured out why ireland is not in :) ireland probably doesnt have any aerospace industry. for example sweden pays for 3,5% of whole project, most of this money goes to saab ericsson aerospace for some parts they are providing, so basicaly by supporting esa's project every european country is supporting its own industry. ireland's industry probably couldnt contribute with any instruments thus ireland choose not to participate....

    actually 2 of esa's countries are not financing it (ireland & portugal). anyone knows why they are not financing this project? could it be because they joined esa after envisat project was started?

    one thing that i didnt like about konquerer when i used it last time is that it had windows keybindings as default. i would have prefered (and many with me) emacs keybindings. even vi keybindings would have been better than having windows keybindings as default.....

    anyone else who find this irritating?

    seems pretty stable to me, offcourse this machine doesnt have that high load, we are like 4-5 ppl using it....

    hmm, wierd,

    ericsson and microsoft founded new corporation 2-3 years ago, that was jointly owned by them. it had its headquarters in stockholm but few months ago i read article about microsoft dropping out of this company and that this company is going to be owned 100% by ericsson in the future. it seemed to me as their cooperation didnt work that well and now ericsson is agreeing on micro Os in their phones. wierd....

    forgot to mention that symbian is partly owned by Ericsson Sony, Nokia, Matsushita (Panasonic), Motorola and Psion. It seems to me that all big players in mobile market are going to fight microsoft.....
