    That is why you would typically replace one drive every year or whatever. Not all at the same time anyway.

    Me, I just let them fail and then I rewrite them so bad blocks are not used. I have drives that failed once (badblocks) that have never failed again for several years once the badblocks identified and not used anymore.

    Well, I only did the "cdreimer" one. I'm not funny enough to write the sheer amount of nonsense the criemer and creinner guys do, but I appreciate it.
    After Slashdot unceremoniously yanked cdreimer from me, I lost interest.
    I appear to be suffering from the human emotion of "doubt". I don't really hate the guy, I just think he's such a puffed-up ridiculous buffoon. I'd bet he's a hoot to have a drink with though!

    Same here, he should be our hero or at least our /. mascot!

    But then again, he should be entitled the rights for a comedy show that we would all get a cut out of.

    Seriously, this was better than anything I have watched for a long time.

    I see what you mean. Hydro-Quebec hires 0.2% of that workforce while having 2% of the world capacity which would make them ~10 times more efficient than average.

    Granted, it is hydro power but nothing comes really "free" or at no environmental costs. Heck, you may very need oil to produce solar panels.

    None of these arguments have told me why a torrent tracker is more trustworthy or more convenient than the source - which was the entire point of the thread.

    Don't trust anybody, period.
