"Steven B. Lipner, Microsoft's director of security assurance, responded, saying: "I'd be astonished if the open-source community has in total done as many man-years of computer security code reviews as we have done in the last two months.""
Come on!! Maybe if they would take the time to check their code for problems as they are working on it, they wouldnt have this problem?? Besides, we dont have to spend man-years working on security problems.. Our programs dont have security problems!! Man.. This guy is some ignorant capitolist soab!
Dude, to me it sounds like your getting burned out. The same thing happened to me. By the time I finished with tech school I just didnt have the umph to program anymore.:P So I gave up for awhile, went to a regular college and started taking regular classes. Now I miss it.:) I guess that means I got my umph back.:) hehe:) All you have to do is take a break from it, then eventually you will find a programming project that gives ya a woody and you'll be ok.:) Believe me, it's fun. Sitting there all day clattering away at the keyboard, codeing some realy elegant stuff.:) Damn. Now I'm popping wood:*) hehe:) L8:)
Dude, if people were going to stop buying windows because of its bad design, dont you think they would have done so allready? The problem is that you have a bunch of ediot morons out there that think the cdrom tray is a cupholder. They dont know the differance between a good and bad design because they think windows is the only thing out there. As for win xp, these people will have no choice but to buy it. Afterall, what happens when they go to upgrade to the latest version of aol or whatever, and it will only run on xp?
Simple. Drag your start bar up to the top of the screen, move the desktop icons from the left side to the right, and then what does it look like to you??
Dude, I can't agree with you more. Now that i'v been newly deamed an adult, I'm starting to realise how things around the us work. I dont like it. More and more I feel like I'm stuck with a bunch of null brained morons. I just can't help but compare them all to sheep. They way they think and act is just stupifying(mind my spelling, I was educated in the us:P ). As for what was mentioned in the topic of this discussion, I definatly agree with the paranoia. More and more of our rites seem to be taken away. One being our rite to vote. As if anyone's opinion counted in this last so called election. I dont realy know anymore though. Once I get enough money, I'm probably going to move over either Germany, UK, or Canada. They definatly seem to be more put togeather.
Gee, you guys are mean:P:) hehehehe:) Hey, I'm sure most of us use some kind of unix/linux, and hate micro$haft, rite?? So can't we all just like get along and stuff??:-) I gave up on microsloth a long time ago, while I was stuck working for a company that supported their products. Talk about ediotic..:P I dont think I had ever been so aggrevated in my life.:P Come in to work every and find my vmail box full of people complaining about blue screens, strange problems connecting to nt(no technology) servers, and stuff like that.:P Man am I ever glad I got out of that job.:P:) It's typical though.. Now that I'v switched over to *nix based stuff, I dont experiance any of these problems..:) It's been at least a year since I'v needed to reload any of my machines over here. Compared to every 3 months under winblows:P:) Now if only I could go back to the clients I used to work with and switch them over to the same kind of setup. They'd love me for it.:*)
Well yeah. Windows apps wont work on it, but try takeing a program that was written on say linux, and the source was included. Take that same program over to a sun machine running solaris, compile the source, and your app works. Thats one big differance between windows, which uses its own codeing, and an os that was written in c, which is a totally portable language..
Ok, well why not pass a law that states the source for any and all os's, and software for that matter be freeware? Afterall, if "windows" is suppoed to be the one and only os as you say, why should we have to pay $80 a pop for it? Or for that matter, why should we have to pay something like $200 for ms word, when emacs is free?
Speaking from experiance as a techie, and a converter from ms to linux, the only way that linux could possably go mainstreem is if it was more user friendly. The average moron out there with a computer doesn't even know how to use dos, nevertheless something unix based. There are some people out there whereas if they see a dos prompt they think their machine is broken. Could you imagine what they would think if they saw linux loading all of its demons and everything? They'd slip into a coma..:P If anything, all that linux would need to overthrow ms would be a graphical installer / boot loader, or at least something to cover up the tech stuff, and a kick ass window manager that works like the windows explorer. Well, that, and maybe an easier way to install hardware / software.. As sad as it may be, the average computer user thinks aol is the internet, and a gui is the only way to work.:P
So I guess now Molder and Scully will be lurking on the /. boards looking for terrorist aliens from mars? :P :)

First of all, they are using our logo. :) So why don't we just use theirs, but change the colors around in the pains of the window?
