I'm convinced that this phase of computer history is going to be remembered as the "UX Revolution." Seriously, even Linux distributions' GUIs have turned into iOS clones. Windows 10, while better than 8, is still a disaster because Microsoft is still convinced that people want to run a phone/tablet OS on their desktop PC.
They want to provide a "consistence interface" across devices, and they believe, probably correctly, that desktop PCs are on their way out, and tablets and phones will dominate consumer computing in the coming decade.

You're making the great mistake of assuming that if ten million Russians died on the eastern front, then if Russia was neutral that at least ten million more Allied soldiers would have died on the western front. But the Russians did not have the equipment, the manufacturing base, and the resources that the Allies had. Maybe later, but that point, they pretty much just had Russians. They had lots and lots and lots of Russians, and the threw them at the Germans in the millions and let their country's natural hostile winters do the rest.

Just about every single topic known to man has peculiar intricacies. For most cases, you don't need to know about them. For the vast, vast majority of Americans, all you need to know is that you should contribute the max you can afford, you don't withdraw from the 401k unless under extreme conditions, and that sometimes it's good to roll over an old 401k into a new one when you get a new job.
You don't need to know that future catch-up adjustments can be adjusted for inflation in increments of $500. You don't need to know about the self-employed versions. You can ask your plan administrator whether a regular or Roth 401k is right.
No offense to DC shoes (they may be great guys, I wouldn't know), but I have a lot more confidence that their content will exist on Youtube in 10 years than it would on dcshoes.com.

Windows 98 was certainly an upgrade in every sense over Windows 95, but Windows ME was not an upgrade over 98. GNOME 3 may be newer than GNOME 2, but that's the only qualifier in which I could consider it an upgrade. What happens when "newer" is the only one of those terms to apply, but all the other definitions of upgrade apply to the older product instead?
